There is a reference in the article 51st state that "The UK is the proposed 51st state in the movie of the same name". I don't see anything in the IMDB entry that supports this. It might have been a brief throwaway joke that doesn't deserve mention in that article. Can anyone who has seen this movie confirm or deny this reference? -- Ponder 14:56, 2005 Mar 22 (UTC)

I can and it does. near the end before all the explosions.

Yes. Meatloaf makes the comment that "England ain't nothing but the 51st State."

Since whe was this movie called "The 51 State"? Was it released under multipule names? txwiki08

It was retitled 'Formuler 51' in the US, which is already mentioned in the article.

Location[edit]

Quite a few scenes are also filmed in nearby Birkenhead, not sure if this is worth mentioning though.Nikevs 01:10, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kilts[edit]

Does anyone know where they got the Kilt SLJ wears in this film from?

ravers --> neo-nazi skins[edit]

The article talked about a 'bunch of ravers' that follow Samuel and Caryle around, taking them to an animal testing lab etc. I've just watched the film, and I have no idea where this came from. The group are neo-nazi skinheads, I'm not sure how they found out about the drug, but they're deffo skins. One even has it tattooed on his forehead :)

Have amended all relevant references to skins. (yes some scenes take place in a rave club, in a bunch of real ravers. I've left that alone.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 87.194.10.183 (talk) 00:33, 11 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

  • I haven't seen the movie, but none of the reviews I've seen online label them as neo-Nazis; just skinheads. I deleted the term neo-Nazi until someone can confirm that's what they actually are. If they are in fact portrayed as neo-Nazis, then the term Nazi-Skinhead should be used instead of the more generic skinhead, which is a subculture that includes people of many different beliefs. I also made some other minor copy editing corrections to this article.Spylab 17:03, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • Not sure if it's proof enough but one of them wears a shirt with a swastika on it. 72.160.127.157 (talk) 11:31, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, they engage in some racist banter. -- Beardo (talk) 19:57, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think the term 'skin head' is sufficient since it's not a huge part of the plot in that sence.

Trivia[edit]

In the trivia section it states that Sam Jackson was 51 years of age at the time of filming, however he was 52 years of age in 2001, when the film was released and, im assuming, was filmed. comments? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wendy clear (talkcontribs) 14:34, August 26, 2007 (UTC)

POV[edit]

The Plot section contains POV and weasel words and reads more like a press release regarding the plot for the film rather than a Wiki entry; it needs to be made more encyclopaedic. Liverpool Scouse (talk) 00:10, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
