Untitled[edit]

Moved the following here:

Currently the West Rail provides local service on its own. No inter-city service is offered, making it effectively more like a metro instead of a commuter railway, although it was built in commuter railway standard, and was expected to accomodate other trains in future.

The distinction is not entirely clear (and useful), and at least some viewed that the metro should be primarily underground. Furthermore West rail is intended to join East rail as an integral system which is regarded as a sub-urban system crossing non-urban areas. The statement (commentary in nature) is therefore not desirable. -Hlaw 09:19, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)

The statement was descriptive rather than commentary. --14:12, December 8, 2004 (UTC)

Yes, this section is not clear. Does 'local service' mean 'stopping service' (ie. in which trains stop at every station) and 'inter-city service' mean not stopping at every station? What are the 'other trains' mentioned? The above comment was over two years ago, so is anyone else looking at this?! Earthlyreason 09:01, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is not necessary for a metro to operate underground. For example the Kwun Tong Line which is part overground part underground. The West rail stops as every station. The west rail was over designed so it appears to be a commuter rail, but the areas it connects are densely populated new developed areas.

No. of Trains[edit]

The number of trains for West Rail (Hong Kong) should be 22 instead of 23.

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

West rail is a rapid transit.[edit]

The areas that the west rail line connect are high density NDAs, not "suburbs" except for Kam Sheung Road station. The frequency on the west rail is quite high. In fact, the West rail ticks a lot of the boxes of a rapid transit. It really isnt fit to be a commuter rail. Someonewhoisgood (talk) 04:35, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Route Section[edit]

I believe, that since the West Rail Line is part of The Tuen Ma Line, there should also be a modified route section that includes the Wu Kai Sha-Hung Hom section for The Tuen Ma line as well.
