Hungarian flag from 1848[edit]

Untitled[edit]
The flag is supposed to have aspect ratio 2:3, but the image is 1:2. I assume the image is wrong... --Mihai 21:10, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Strength[edit]
Wikipedia guidelines discourage linking directly to disambiguation pages. What sense of "strength" is meant here? Physical strength? Military strength? Moral strength (fortitude or virtue)? Thanks. Sanguinity 19:15, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
Flag from 1957-1989[edit]
Is there a reference that the flag shown at Flag_of_Hungary_(1957-1989).png was used during those years? The FOTW website has no mention of it at all.

- This issue I have resolved actually quite some time ago. That flag was never official in that form, the badge was pictured on it however quite often. The site says so now. (And has been saying so for some time).Szabi 11:00, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
1946-49[edit]
Someone with the IP 194.152.157.115 added an image. The image shows the so called Kossuth coat of arms as a badge. The text (which was there prior) describes it as the minor arms without the crown on the top which is the same basic design, but the outer shape of the supporter ("shield") is different! Can someone check that? I added a "{Fact}" to the image.Szabi 10:58, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

This article is woefully unreferenced and does not meet Wikipedia's verifiability standards. Please add appropriate citations where possible. The lead section needs to be expanded to meet Wikipedia's standards. The lead should not only introduce the article's subject but summarize the article's content. I would also like to see something about the flags used prior to 1867. For some ideas on what a flag article should look like, please feel free to refer to some Featured Articles such as Flag of Germany or Flag of Canada. - Hello, the references are not interspersed in the text, but given in the "External links" section (Flags of the world, hungarian legal acts, etc.). Given that, "woefully unreferenced" seems to be an undue judgement; maybe the style of citation is not appropriate, and maybe there may be more citations, but it's not at all unreferenced. Some points do need elaboration, that's true, these are overtly marked.
- Concerining the lead section, looking at the German and Canadian example, lifting the "Origin" section into the lead section would not quite, but mostly satisfy this criterion. Do I see that correctly? Szabi (talk) 01:52, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- Szabi, I helped with making the Canadian flag article, just to name a few flag articles, into featured status. While there are some parts of this article I would like to add, it would be very impossible to do since we do not know exact colors and anything like that. "Magyarország zászlója"[edit]
"Magyarország zászlója" is not a way we native Hungarian refer to our flag. Even the declination of zászló (flag) almost never ends up as "zászlója", but "zászlaja" in possessive form. Besides, "magyar zászló" (Hungarian flag) is a more authentic way to refer to our flag. Rewriting of hungarian version of the Bratislava city into Slovak[edit]
I deleted the hungarian version of the Bratislava city. The reason is that the name Bratislava is in the Slovak language used since 18th. century with many different variants in many different language (for the first time defined during establishing of the written Slovak language as Braťislava in the 1843). The name Bratislava was being developed and used for centuries from the name Braslavъ (9th. century). Hun. name Pozsony comes from 1197 and it's hugarian name of the Slovak city anyway. It is more apropriate to use Slovak equivalent "Bratislava". --Pentakon (talk) 17:21, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

- This argumentation does not hold necessarily, regarding what may be presented in WP, as well has no connection to the origin and date of origin of the name in several languages. In 1790 it was a Hungarian city nominally, of course the city had other historic ethnicities present, but it a Slovak city today, not then, thus Bratislava is not necesarily more appropriate. As per some rules/guidelines/agreements about this subject, Pressburg will be used then in the first place.(KIENGIR (talk) 23:15, 17 December 2018 (UTC))
