Why quote the NYT film review?[edit]

Whether it was Bosley Crowther or some other hack hardly matters; looking back we can safely say that they were wrong on virtually every movie that was not a safe bet. Crowther thought, for example, that the next-to-final scene in Seven Samurai was confused and complained that Kurosawa only showed the horses' legs. I know you can offer this review as a piece of history, but . . . 24.126.41.116 02:57, 1 May 2005 (UTC) aka User:Italo Svevo[reply]

Donald Crisp as Francis Bacon[edit]

Ah, the irony. The casting was deliberate. 63.3.2.130 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 00:41, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Final scene[edit]

The "Production" section says "A final scene of Essex on the execution block was cut after previews". Not sure how narrowly "on the execution block" is defined here (words like "on the gallows" are often used both for the location and as a metonym for execution), but I just finished watching the movie on TCM and it ends with a close-up scene where Essex is marched up on the scaffold and then saying "I'm ready", and a brief shot of Elizabeth, waiting in lone anguish in her throne room. If there was a shot where he lay his neck on the block, it must have been extremely brief, alternatively the scene where he is marched to his death may have been cut and added again in later years. 83.251.170.27 (talk) 01:41, 1 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Flynn and Davis Did Three Films?[edit]

I know there's a citation but anyone who knows the careers of Davis or Flynn knows they did two films together, this being the second. I checked the cited source, by the way, and saw nothing stating they made three films together. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rkolian (talkcontribs) 14:44, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
