This template is to be used in character set tables, together with Template:Chset-tableformat and Template:Chset-left.  For an example, see Code page 437. — Monedula 04:37, 30 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Normal use is to simply specify the unicode code point however the template can also be used with two parameters for more control e.g. using a base character to illustrate combining diacritics or illustrating a position that maps to multiple unicode code points.
