Anyone know how he died? --unsigned comment from anon IP 80.172.12.189 21:50, 8 January 2005 (UTC)[reply]

He died of a shoulder carbuncle, contrary to the popular belief that he died under the guillotine.

Anyone know what his family changed their name to? At this point, I don't think we need to protect their privacy. 71.244.156.78 15:42, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't "painless decapitation" an oxymoron, even if the guillotine made it almost instantanious? How did he die? Phone 08556 234779 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.139.73.161 (talk) 15:27, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Guillotin was not born in Manchester England but in Saintes, France (Ref. French Dictionary "Le Petit Larousse" 1998). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Le Chercheur (talkcontribs) 03:13, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Quoted by Richard Gordon[edit]

In one of the Doctor books by Richard Gordon, Grimsdyke replies to a psychiatrist:

Yes, and Dr Guillotine invented the guillotine, Dr Gattling invented the machine-gun, and Dr Morgan became a pirate.

That's from memory but I think it's fairly accurate... the order of Gattling and Guillotine may be wrong, but Morgan comes last for its comic effect.

Anyway, if accurately sourced and to the specific book, that quote would be a good addition to this article IMO, as a specific example of the error that Dr Guillotine invented the guillotine. Andrewa (talk) 16:49, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
