Untitled[edit]

I came across Communes of the Calvados département while doing one of my "10 random pages" project fix-ups, to Perrières. It was established in May 2004.

From the history, I can only guess that someone (69.197.51.18) intended it as a cross-connected list of INSEE and Postal codes for France. I suspect that there are other similar pages, too!

How about some work, User:Olivier?

Look at List of ZIP Codes in Delaware. It is a simpler format (in Wiki) and saves many bytes. I will see what I can do. Peter Ellis 03:14, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)
This worked well: copy the table to a word processor; use Find and Replace searching for the tr td tags replacing with *; do the same for td replacing with ´ - ´; copy back to the edit page, and fix the header line of the ex-<table>. Peter Ellis 03:30, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I admit that given the current information listed on this page, the new format looks better than the former table format. Nevertheles, the table format could allow for the addition of more information, like for instance the population of each commune, the canton to which it belongs, etc... olivier 04:38, Dec 31, 2004 (UTC)

The original reason for doing the clean-up of HTML to Wiki format was because Wiki was (automatically) reporting that the byte-count was beyond the normal range and suggesting that the page be split to reduce download times. I will proceed and then there is an option for others to revert. As for other information... Mmmm... Yes, but... the originator did not come back between May and December to do any of that, AND would this not be better placed in the articles on the communes and cantons?
