Needs intro and results[edit]

Article needs an introductory paragraph and mens selection/results. I have no idea about this topic, but if someone can point me towards a website with results i can add them. Also just a personal opinion but i don't think it is necessary to list all the crew names, a quick look at the other NCAA pages and they just list which uni/college won. Only women are under the NCAA so there are no men's races. Men race at IRAs or one of a couple other championship regattas, and I am in the middle of writing an article about College Rowing in the US. However unlike women's rowing, men's rowing is very decentralized and confusing as there are several national championships (although IRAs is for the fastest crews). All of this data is from the NCAA webpage in a PDF of NCAA championship results, however it did not include the 2004 champions. The PDF published by the NCAA included the names of the rowers which is why I put them here but I am neutral on the subject. I agree that it needs an intro paragraph and I will work on that. Another note about the list of winning crews. In 2005 Ithaca College won the Division III team championship for the second straight year. However, this was the first time that the DIII champion team did not actually have the fastest single crew. The first varsity eight from Trinity College won the grand final with open water. Since the DIII championship involves two boats, it does not really make sense to list the lineup of only the first varsity eight, especially if that boat did not actually win the gold medal for the grand final.

Ahh maybe it should be changed then. I have never actually been to one of the women's races so I didn't really understand how it worked. My only concern is that we should note that the lineups represent the fastest boat and not the team champions. I will let you do that since I don't know Trinity's lineup and you probably have a better understanding of how women's rowing works. Alex Krupp 23:07, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the DIII record to reflect Trinity's win in the grand final in 2005. The lineup is listed by class, not seat (according to how it is reported on Trinity's website). Anyone who knows what the actual lineup was is more than welcome to adjust things. I still think that it is strange to only list the winning boats from each year rather than the winning teams, since all three divisions have team championships that deliberately emphasize all of the athletes on the squad (not just one boat). As the years go by, the article will be very long if it lists each lineup, but the team data are easily reported.
