Photo removal[edit]

This is a free encyclopedia. We are not exploiting her estate to use it in a benign fashion. It is fitting to have a photo of the grand artist. She passed away nearly a century ago. Can we not just let the issue sit, until a challenge arises? Dogru144 02:26, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of an unsupported/uncredited/unreferenced opinion[edit]

The emphasized phrase in the sentence below was removed as a statement of personal opinion (as well as for being clumsily expressed):

"They have largely fallen out of fashion in the past four decades, and have done much to harm the modern appreciation of Landowska's recordings."

It may be so that Landowska's use of such instruments has had an adverse impact on contemporary appreciation of her recordings - but no source for this is cited, no quote from a standard authority or standard work is given. As to expression, it wouldn't be the modern harpsichords themselves that did the harm, it would be her use of them in the recordings. JTGILLICK (talk) 05:56, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

She was certainly not "of Polish descent". She was Polish-born and -bred.

The term as used today strongly implies a romantic relationship. Is this intended, and is there any evidence? If not, probably best to rephrase this.

Date of birth[edit]

Apparently, the Polish article has 1877 as the correct date of birth. Although I don't see this referenced somehow, I wonder which is the correct one. --Chrysalifourfour (talk) 12:48, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

same harpsichord[edit]

the harpsichord featuring in the image titled "Wanda Landowska in 1937" is (or at least appears on closer inspection) the same harpsichord that features in image titled "A favourite 16th-century Landowska harpsichord from her collection, with painting on lid attributed to Verocchio, presently housed in Hans Adler memorial music collection." 124.171.64.159 (talk) 10:52, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The two harpsichords pictured in the article today are obviously completely different styles in almost every way. I assume the first picture shows her actual performance harpsichord, with its extra bass octave and variety of plucking materials. So much needs to be researched to make the WP article truly encyclopedic. 22:35, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
