Incorrect number of championships[edit]

The lakers have 16 titles not 17 as the fraudulent ring given to Lebron James by Mickey Mouse at disneyland in 2020 was not a real ring and does not count 2600:100F:B1BF:6176:7C13:FDE8:6F1D:D3BB (talk) 20:16, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You are wrong.Spanneraol (talk) 20:27, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So mad your team didn’t win the Disney ring 2600:100C:B0AC:B3D5:914D:A170:AC0E:5A3C (talk) 00:42, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Laker don't have 18 championships.[edit]

This info is incorrect. The 17th shouldn't count either, but they are have 17 titles. Crawfordkp (talk) 21:52, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you cite reliable sources that support this? —Bagumba (talk) 23:14, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a list of NBA champions straight from the source. They do not recognize champions from the National Basketball League, only the BAA, which was the NBA's predecessor. If the NBA itself does not recognize this, the wikipedia article should not as well. This has also been the consensus for years, that the Lakers have 17 championships, and I highly doubt it's a coincidence that, now that Boston has 18 titles, Lakers fans are desperate to do anything to match that number. Skelly57 (talk) 14:22, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The 1948 NBL title has been listed in this article since it was created in 2004. Spanneraol (talk) 18:30, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article is correct.. the Lakers won 17 NBA championships and one from the predecessor NBL league. Why wouldn't any of them count? Spanneraol (talk) 02:33, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nobody recognizes the nbl chip. lakers have 17 championships whether this wiki page wants to admit or not 97.80.103.224 (talk) 14:00, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nobody? It is a fact which is why it is listed. The NBA championships are broken down so it can be easily seen how many are NBA vs NBL. Spanneraol (talk) 14:06, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the NBA Cup has its own element, if this is something Lakers fans want, it should be treated the same way. 2600:8800:1812:B100:BC4D:FCC9:4ED8:6B5A (talk) 14:31, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I fully agree. It's fine to acknowledge the NBL and team's histories there, but they shouldn't be lumped in with NBA championships when the NBA itself doesn't recognize them. Skelly57 (talk) 14:59, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They aren't "lumped in"... it clearly lists 18 championships.. 1 NBL and 17 NBA... that is correct. Spanneraol (talk) 18:00, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the article from the NBA about how many championships they recognize is incorrect? I thought claims had to be supported with evidence on Wikipedia, while you're just hand waving this away. Honestly, this is kind of desperate. 2600:8800:1812:B100:BC4D:FCC9:4ED8:6B5A (talk) 14:28, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2020 Championship[edit]

Covid in a dome many games canceled. Delete or asterisk it! 75.71.122.140 (talk) 23:54, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The NBA played almost a full season... the playoffs were played in their entirety. It was a fair season so it definitely counts. Leave it. Spanneraol (talk) 00:00, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There's no WP:WEIGHT in reliable sources to downplay this. —Bagumba (talk) 09:23, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Lakers have 18 Championships[edit]

The Lakers have 1 NBL championship and 17 NBA championships. This is a total of 18 championships. On the Detroit Pistons' Wikipedia page, both NBL and NBA championships are listed and totaled. Likewise, to present the Lakers' complete history, their NBL championship must be listed and totaled with their NBA championships, as well. Mlmanous (talk) 12:03, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes.. and it was until someone erased it yesterday. That vandalism has been reversed. Spanneraol (talk) 13:04, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Correct Vandalism to Lakers Page[edit]

Once again, the number of championships listed for the Lakers has been changed. They have 18 championships, including 1 NBL championship. Please restore this factual information about the franchise's history. Mlmanous (talk) 09:08, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Lakers do indeed have 18 championships. 1 NBL, 1 BAA (later retconned as an NBA championship) and 16 NBA (17 with the retconned one). All should be listed in the infobox as these were major professional championships. There seems to be at least one user who for some reason is trying to remove it from the Lakers and Kings pages. Alvaldi (talk) 17:14, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Neither the National Basketball Association nor the Los Angeles Lakers themselves recognize the 1948 NBL title as a "championship." To do otherwise would be spreading misinformation, and, indeed, WP:Vandalism. MAINEiac4434 (talk) 18:22, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
False. It is a championship... the NBA not acknowledging it is irrelevant to the fact that the league existed and it had champions.. which are facts. It is certainly not vandalism. I'd also like to point out that the championship has been listed in this article since 2004 when it was created, so removing it would be the vandalism. Spanneraol (talk) 18:26, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Los Angeles Lakers themselves do not consider themselves to be the 1948 Champions. For Wikipedia to do so would be lying, and vandalism. MAINEiac4434 (talk) 19:17, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The NBL championship is well established by secondary sources. Entities do not get to rewrite their own histories. Please do not remove sourced content without establishing consensus first. Alvaldi (talk) 19:33, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why would an entity "rewrite" its own history to give itself less championships unless they knew it was a minor-league championship. MAINEiac4434 (talk) 19:53, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Lakers DO mention the NBL championship on their website in the team history section. Spanneraol (talk) 20:04, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure? Because I can't find it. MAINEiac4434 (talk) 20:18, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
