Thanks for the reply. I understand why you didn't want to bring specific issues into your NPOV story, but I have to admit scanning your contributions did help me understand why you feel there is a widespread ignorance of NPOV - unfortunately you have been mixing it up with a few users who have fallen into the "Well I am lucky because my POV is the NPOV" trap (admittedly very easy to do!) Revert in error: apology[edit]

My apologies for reverting a whole series of your edits; I had only intended to revert a single edit (which removed a sentence that I felt should stay in the article), but I didn't check the edit history to see if it was part of a series. As a result, the reversion software rolled back all of your series of edits in one hit, which was not my intention. This was entirely my fault. I would like to offer my sincere apologies for this, and I hope that you are not put off from editing Wikipedia because of it. -- The Anome 14:12, 15 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

The reason for the lack of an edit comment is this: admins have access to a special "one-click revert" feature in the software. This automatically reverts the most recent set of edits on a given article, all the way back to the last edit by a user other than the user who made the most recent edit. It also generates an automatic comment which just states what it did. Given that I intended only to restore the sentence you deleted with your last edit, and anything else, I thought the edit would be self-explanatory (implicitly: "I think this sentence belongs in the article"; I might have written "rv" or "stet" if I was adding a comment), and used the one-click revert feature. -- The Anome 16:46, 15 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the further education about the admin software. Since you are being helpful and explaining things, could you tell me the customary way to conduct this sort of dialog on user talk pages? Do we keep it all on one page, or do I post my replies on yours, and you on mine? How does it work? I'll post this reply on both so I know you will see it. As for the issue about the deletion, obviously you are saying you want it there, by reverting. The question is, but what about the objection I made, the reason I gave when I deleted it? By not replying, you are telling me there is no dialog, you are just insisting the material remain. I don't think you really want to send that message, given your fairness and willingness to discuss things as evidenced by our chat. ChessPlayer 17:32, 15 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Deutsches Ahnenerbe[edit]

I see that you have an interest in Nazi-era history. Could you cast an eye over the Ahnenerbe article, which is an attempt to replace a stub which was largely based on fantasy with a more detailed article on this pathological but historically interesting organization. At the moment, the article needs more material on their influence on German academia, the expeditions to Tibet, Iran and so on, and more on the complicity of the medical and anthropological professions in murder as part of their "research". -- The Anome 10:16, 21 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

I will look into it. There is a book on the expedition to Tibet: Himmler's Crusade : The Nazi Expedition to Find the Origins of the Aryan Race by Christopher Hale. I haven't read it. There is also a scholarly work, very dry, called The Occult Roots of Nazism: Secret Aryan Cults and Their Influence on Nazi Ideology: The Ariosophists of Austria and Germany, 1890-1935 by Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke. It may have some related information; I long ago looked at, and do not remember well what it said. It is in my university library, and I can look at it if you like. I recall that contrary to what some think, Hitler himself was not into the occult at all, and didn't approve of Himmler's interest. Hitler thought it was nonsense, if my memory is correct. Greetings! You are probably not aware that we prefer to have lead sections in articles that summarize the entire topic. This area can be thought of as a parred-down concise encyclopedia article in its own right. It is also part of the requirements for an article to be featured. Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles.
