  • You can introduce yourself on the new users page.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • Remember to use the show preview button before you save a page.
  • If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page.

Other useful pages are: how to edit, how to write a great article, naming conventions, manual of style and the Wikipedia policies.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Angela. 10:07, Apr 4, 2004 (UTC)

) Just trying to add to the pleasure of the site. God forbid I should point to something relevant and informative. I guess I just have to have friends slowly add my site to the links one at a time anonymously.... (unsigned comment by Gooldenwending 10:15, 30 December 2005 UTC)
1. Links are not knowledge in and of themselves. With luck they may point to knowledge.
2. Links that never resolve are only slightly less annoying than ugly spam sites. I have no idea if your site is informative or relevant or an ugly spam site because it never resolved.
3. Sneaky vandalism is found out more slowly, but is found out and just creates more trouble. Please don't create trouble for other people, and please don't threaten to create trouble..
4. Please sign posts in talk pages with four tildes ~~~~ to get an automatic time stamp and user links. Hu 11:48, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ummmm. I think you totally misunderstand me. #1: Thank you. I will be extremely careful with my wording in the future although I'm a firm believer that you've been successful if your meaning was easily transmitted (I have a feeling you know what I was talking about). #2: My site never resolved??? There's no links to my site here anymore as they were quickly wiped away. Were you in the edit history page or something? Perhaps I entered the info wrong. If this was the problem in the first place someone could have mentioned that and it could have been resolved. I can guarantee you that www.jinwending.com (my site--if you take this off please just take out the link and leave the rest so anyone who's looking can know what I'm talking about) will open, and this is what I was using. #3: I was not speaking of vandalism and never did I intend to do any. My site is informative and I'm a believer in the dissemination of free information--there is not a single add anywhere. So, to me adding links by asking friends to do so is one way of dissiminating information. I don't care about site traffic. I haven't even given my site keywords. #4: Thank you. I don't spend a lot of time editing here. I will sign off with the four tildes now. Gooldenwending 13:03, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I just spent some time reading the External Links section. I don't know that my site qualifies under those terms so, fine. I was basing things on my use of the site before, where there were links: some of which useful, some crap. Mine would qualify in the useful IMHO, but, of course, it looks like the philosophy here is more keep it internal, which is fine. Ta ta. Gooldenwending 13:08, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
