Lewis Thomas and the selective advantage or disadvantage of rape[edit]

Back in early 2005, you inserted a paragraph into Rape, relating that Lewis Thomas in The Lives of a Cell argues that a tendency towards rape is mapadaptive and would be selected against evolutionarily. Unable to locate such an argument in my copy of The Lives of a Cell, I have removed that paragraph. You are invited to respond on Talk:Rape with a more precise reference (i.e., in which of the essays that make up The Lives of a Cell can this argument be found?).
