BenjBot[edit]

Just wondering what software BenjBot uses - pywikipediabot? ··gracefool | 22:14, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Yeah, I just use pywikipediabot. So far I have only used the solve_disambiguation.py script, but maybe someday I'll use another one. If you want to run a bot, make sure to get permission at Wikipedia:Bots Benjamin Goldenberg 23:06, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)
So now is every mention of a Roman Catholic cardinal given a highlighted link? What if the link is utterly irrelevant to the entry subject? If you link eveything, then the useful links disappear into the background noise. Try using "What links here" for your birth year... Wetman 06:04, 19 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I did not create any new links when disambiguating Cardinal. I only piped the links that referred to a catholic cardinal to Cardinal (Catholicism). Nevertheless, I think that it is appropriate to link to Cardinal on most articles that refer to Catholic cardinals. The Catholic meaning of Cardinal is a very specific one, and many people, (including me), do not know the specific meaning. I think that these links are relevant to the content as stated by the guidelines on Wikipedia:Make_only_links_relevant_to_the_context. Benjamin Goldenberg 18:23, 19 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Hi, I've marked BenjBot as a bot since there were no objections on Wikipedia talk:Bots. If you ever need the bot flag removed, please ask at meta:requests for permissions. Angela. 19:36, Sep 19, 2004 (UTC)

The Humungous Image Tagging Project[edit]

Hi. You've helped with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Wiki Syntax, so I thought it worth alerting you to the latest and greatest of Wikipedia fixing project, User:Yann/Untagged Images, which is seeking to put copyright tags on all of the untagged images. There are probably, oh, thirty thousand or so to do (he said, reaching into the air for a large figure). But hey: they're images ... you'll get to see lots of random pretty pictures. That must be better than looking for at at and the the, non? You know you'll love it. best wishes --Tagishsimon (talk)

Check up... BenjBot[edit]

Is your bot still active? If so, please add BenjBot to the list of bots on Wikipedia:Bots. Thank you. --AllyUnion (talk) 07:19, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Bgoldenberg. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Grateful Dead-American Beau.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Bgoldenberg/Album Template Test. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 06:10, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bot activity[edit]

I was going over the list of bots and noticed that BenjBot (talk · contribs) has not edited in a very long time. Is this bot still active and if not, would you object to it being de-flagged? Please post your comments to Wikipedia_talk:Bots/Requests_for_approval#Dead_bots since this is a rather widely-posted message. MBisanz talk 06:39, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
