Talk:Gestational carrier

This is a problematic term! "Gestational carrier" deumanises the pregnant woman. She is not a drawer or a flask as the word "carrier" seems to suggest. It also removes women from pregnancy and makes it sound as if anyone can be a "carrier." I would suggest the use of the term "gestational mother" as pregnancy is an important element or pre-element to motherhood. "Mother" gives women visibility in the process of reproduction, a process that should not be devalued.

A good term

The carrier is not the mother, either in genetic material or by a life long committment to raise the child. There needs to be a strong line between the carrier and mother. Too often in todays society such terms lead to legal battles, next we would see a gestational mother wanting rights with that child, because she too to is a mother to him or her. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.62.38.151 (talk) 13:33, 7 May 2007 (UTC).
