Thanks for catching that nonsense on Liverpool F.C., I missed that when I reverted. sannse 18:15 Feb 2, 2003 (UTC)

Dear Lorenzarius, I just wanted to thank you for the welcoming message I found on my talk page, but I am a bit bewildered to find an almost identically-worded message at the top of your page! Did you write the one I got, or does ot happen automatically when someone creates his own page? Olivia Curtis

Heh, it wasn't automatic. When I joined wikipedia, mav greets me with the above message. I found the greetings very warm and informative, so I think I might just do the same thing and greets you with it. =) --Lorenzarius

I don't think this guy is going to give-up anytime soon so I'm just waiting for several minutes inbetween reverts. Since I'm an Admin I can do several reverts a second. So please don't burn yourself out on this person -- I'll stay-up all night if needed. :-) --mav

OK Thanks =) --Lorenzarius

Hello Lorenzarius, do you happen to know where I can find a table with the right asc., declinations, and visible-between-latitudes of the constellations? The book I'm working from doesn't include these. - Montréalais

This table and this page contains RA and Dec. Visible-between-latitudes can be derived from Dec, but this page have that information.
Actually the RA and Dec of a constellation should be represented by a range, since a constellation is an area but not a point. A precise catalogue of constellation boundary data is available here. I am just an amateur on the subject, so it would be good if any experts can help the project. --Lorenzarius

Great work on the constellations! However, as Ursa Major appears in my browser, the sky map is overwriting the left hand side of the attribute table when there is insufficient width. I think the table should overwrite sky map under this condition. Is this known? easy to fix? -- Alan Peakall 15:27 Feb 17, 2003 (UTC)

Thank you for your information. I've been using the screen resolution of 1024x768, so that problem do not happen to me. It seems that the width of a page is limited by the software so the only thing I can do is to move the map downwards. (But I think it looks better to show the map and the table side by side)
Please visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Constellations for more details. I'll copy this information to the talk page there to let the other contributers learn about this problem. --Lorenzarius 10:16 Feb 18, 2003 (UTC)

I need support in trying to keep football at football. They want to move it to soccer, please see talk:list of footballers. Mintguy 10:08 Feb 19, 2003 (UTC)

New LanguageZh.php is installed. Thanks for the updates! --Brion 09:50 Mar 23, 2003 (UTC)

I see you're adding linking to deep sky object with the header, that link is necessary for sure, but according to the Manual of Style, we better avoid link withing headers ...

I know, but I consider this situation as temporary; when the section will contain enough material I (or you or someone else) will move the link into the normal text. -- looxix 20:03 Apr 12, 2003 (UTC)

I left a note at Image talk:China provinces.png. The map has a factual error--Taipei is not a provincial capital (as incorrectly labelled). --Jiang 22:17 8 Jul 2003 (UTC)

What do you mean 'no Chinese text for "Wikipedia"? -- Perhaps the reason for the hesitation is that using hanzi for phonetic substitution is a misuse of it? Why not use ideographic forms instead of trying to make something phonetic out of non-related hanzi? Even zhuyin and pinyin would be preferable to that, dont you think? So something distinct like 速全周宙書? -戴&#30505sv 09:04, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Well as I understand it, the phonetic use of Chinese symbols although a common part of the language, is kind of a corruption of the original intent of having symbols mean something-- This is the reason for the high level of nuance and complexity in the language of course. I understand that both meaning and sound have consideration in choosing a name, and I was simply advocating the idea that whatever it is, it should be simpler, more iconographic, and less based on phonetics. But I suppose a purely ideographic name wouldnt really be Chinese, though. :) -戴&#30505sv 20:13, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC) P.S im not sure if I can translate well enough to participate in your discussion. Thank you, though.

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Chinese constellations[edit]

Hello!

I've translated this article - yours is the first version - into Portuguese, and would like to know the original sources. Do you remember where from did you get the information? --ligia 12:24, 12 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I see that you are listed as a contributor for this project. Because the project is incomplete, I would like to find out what the current plans are for the project. Much work is still needed, particularly for constellations in the southern sky. I believe we need to do the following:

 1. Complete the infobox for each constellation.
 2. Standardise the format for each constellation.

On my user page, I have posted a few ideas for standardisation and I would like some feedback. --  B.d.mills  (T, C)

User request: please release crescent into public domain[edit]

Dear Lorenzarius,

Thank you for drawing the artistic crescent for the page on "Crescent". I have a request and it is my hope that you consider it for the benefit of many, many people: could you release the image "Crescent.svg" into -- I quote from Wikipedia's no-copyright licensing statement -- "the public domain", and have it "(apply) worldwide"? And perhaps to "grant anyone the right to use this work for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law"?

My rationale is this: the Crescent you drew is a variation of the religious/spiritual symbol many people enjoy using to identify themselves. If freedom were granted for these users (myself included) to use and modify (e.g. color, tilt, flip, etc.) this image, it would save a lot of trouble and benefit loads of people.

On a personal note, I must say I tried drawing this crescent ("a large circle with a smaller one removed", I quote from the caption) myself, and the proportions were unforgivably wrong. Please help me.

Thank you for your attention. Yours respectfully, Victor Ong —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.49.77.90 (talk) 16:13, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't copy images![edit]

Please stop copying images from Wikipedia-de: the images you found there are most certainly available form Wikipedia-Commons and can be directly used in Wikipedia-en articles. For that reason I asked to delete your image Image:Praezession.png - as soon as the image itself is deleted, every article containing a link with that name will get the image of that name from Commons. For more information, see Wikipedia:Images. --141.35.185.149 (talk) 20:49, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh this message is quite funny because that's the last image I've copied from one wikipedia to another and when I did that it was 2005 when wikimedia commons has only been launched for 3 months. --Lorenzarius (talk) 15:47, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
