P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).

Namaste[edit]

Hello, Jel. I'm watching Namaste and so noticed your edits, which I thought were well done. However, I wonder how accurate your edits on the sacredness of the word "namaste" is in terms of how it's used in India among the people whose greeting it is in their daily language. I know that it's true for Westerners, esp. in the New Age movement, to take Indian gestures and words very literally (I have a lot of first-hand experience in this), while the actual gestures/words are not meant so except in very ritual or honoring situations. A good example of a similar teminology is the phrase "Dia duit" (God save you/be with you) in Irish. This is the everyday greeting, and when said, really only means "Hello. How are you?" rather than the literal meaning. See my comments on the talk page for details on my thoughts on the subject. Note that I have no idea where you're from (though I'd guess Eastern), and if you're Indian I'd be very interested in your take on what I'm saying. Thanks for editing! --Blackcap | talk 21:11, August 29, 2005 (UTC)

  • After editing the article and cleaning it up a bit, I'm worried that your edits are a bit POV. If you disagree, please say so and why on the talk page: I love to hear other points of view, especially when I have such strong ones. Please make sure you've read WP:NPOV and go and look at the Namaste article and its talk page. It's always a good idea to look at an article's talk page before editing it, if one exists. Also look at my comments on POV in the Namaste article at Talk:Namaste#POV. Slán agat, --Blackcap | talk 21:38, August 29, 2005 (UTC)

Video blog article[edit]

Hi Jel,

I'm looking to get the video blog article expanded and I noticed you've contributed to the article in the past. It would be great if you could check it out again. It could use some help. Thanks! Pdelongchamp 22:42, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article, which you created, is the subject of a discussion at the Village Pump [1]. As you'll see, there's some support for deleting the article. I think the book merits a WP entry, but I also think some of the criticism is well-founded. I'd be in favor of a short article that notes the book's thesis that Western psychiatry can be usefully informed by Buddhist philosophy. At any rate, I wanted to give you some notice that the article may be subject to an AfD soon. GreenGourd (talk) 19:32, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Editor from IP addresses claiming to be you[edit]

Recent edits from the IP addresses 213.63.24.114 (talk · contribs) and 109.129.165.143 (talk · contribs) purporting to be from "the former editor Jel" have been made to the Origin theories of Christopher Columbus talk page, editor Dougweller's talk page editor Tim Song's talk page and the Wikiquette Alerts page. Some aspects of the edits from those IP addresses lead me to suspect that the editor responsible for them might be mistaken in his claim that the account Jel (talk · contribs) belonged to him. If this is in fact the case, you might wish to make that fact known in the relevant discussion on the Wikiquette Alerts page.

Never mind. It would appear that the person editing from those IP addresses used to edit from the account Jelmain (talk · contribs), but simply used the signature Jel. So he was not in fact claiming that your account was his.

File permission problem with File:KatchTVsshot1.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:KatchTVsshot1.png, which you've sourced to Screenshot of KatchTV. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:00, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
