I believe that the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad is larger than the Badshahi Masjid. I have been to the Badshahi Masjid too, and I believe it can hold a lot more than 5,000 people. DigiBullet 05:16, 26 Apr 2004 (UTC)

The meaning of the name[edit]

In this and several other Pakistan-related articles, there is considerable discrepancy between the purported translations of names and the actual meaning. In this case, 'Badshahi Masjid' does not mean 'Royal Mosque' but 'King's Mosque'. You may quibble the difference, but it is important to have correct meanings and not just vague translations.

I changed the choti he in 'bādśāhī' from هى- to ەى- and forgot to say so in my edit summary (that's all I edited). I also agree the literal translation is important. Khiradtalk 22:52, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
