The hermit writing sits like an old man in a dry season searching Memory of Eliot and Pound Finding none but the roar of a not-so-distant 2-stroke engine barely Audible and half concealed By the wind gaining strength as it kicks up and over the dusty roads of St Lawrence Thirsting for rain and finding none I search again for words and Consonants once known and faded Into yesteryear like the smell of stale eucalyptus on an old cloth Tucked away in a corner Recalling only the presence of the word and not the word Where I wonder are those vowels and consonants strung skillfully Together by Artists who live Between the pages of my sleeping and waking I move towards the Artists thought Behind thought in an attempt at knowing - more.
