Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/.ac .ad .ae

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Update: I count 7 to delete, 1 anonymous to keep, and 1 to keep conditional on rewriting; articles not rewritten since vfd listing. I've deleted these three articles. Wile E. Heresiarch 02:39, 24 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

.ac, .ad, .ae (and who knows how many more this person is planning on creating)

Are we going to have an article on every country's domain server with no more information than this? RickK 03:11, 18 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

  • Tough call. List of Internet TLDs and Top-level domain seem more than capable of covering this. The whole can of worms was opened about a month ago when all the codes on List of Internet TLDs were made into links. Some of them have interesting articles (e.g. .gb), but most are red-links, and most are unlikely to have anything useful written about them. I'd have to say delete these three, to be recreated if and only if something can be written which adds value. --Stormie 03:31, May 18, 2004 (UTC)
  • KEEP
    • There are links to that TLD's, thats why they are there!!!
    • This is official information from IANA it is allowed to be copied.
    • Includes contact information if you want to do whois or register a domain.
    • List of Internet TLDs - links but no content!!!

  • I put the links there, though in my edit summary I questioned whether it was a good idea. If it's going to encourage people like you to create pointless articles, then the non-working links ought to be removed. --Zundark 19:28, 18 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
    • I've removed the excess links now. --Zundark 20:11, 18 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think they could be improved. See .uk for example. If they are turned into proper articles as opposed to source text dumps, they should be kept but they are not encyclopedic in their current format. Angela. 04:05, May 18, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. The information is just copied from the IANA website. It will not be properly maintained here. (This is not to say that we can't have decent articles on these TLDs, only that mere plagiarism of rapidly outdated IANA pages does not constitute a decent article.) --Zundark 19:28, 18 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agreed. No one is going to come here looking for stuff like this. IMO, it doesn't belong in an encyclopedia, paper or otherwise. Delete all. - Lucky 6.9 22:18, 18 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete everything without a properly written article behind it. JFW | T@lk 23:16, 18 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Agree with Angela. Fredrik 00:50, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
