Images[edit]

Hi,

thanks for your additions to the Halifax article. I was wondering if you could mark on the images you uploaded what their source is, and what licence they are uploaded under? If you want to release them under the GFDL licence that wikipedia operates under, simply mark them with this: two { followed by GFDL and then two }. THanks Peregrine981 04:16, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)

Hi. To write to other users on wikipedia, simply go their user page, and click on talk. For example my user page is User:Peregrine981. Then edit the page normally. In order to label your photos, go to the image's page, by clicking on it, and edit it. Put {{GFDL}} on the page if you want to release the image to be edited by others, as long as they attribute the source of the image, and don't use it for commercial purposes. (I don't know the details of the licence, you can easily look them up though.) You don't have to release your images under GFDL, I believe that you can retain you copyright, or release it under various different licences. You'll have to look that stuff up though. Most images are simply released under GFDL. I really like your pic of the MacDonald bridge! Thanks for your efforts at improving the Halifax article. Peregrine981 11:48, Dec 12, 2004 (UTC)

HOwever, I would ask if you could provide some details about Image:Peninsula.JPG , and where it came from. I presume it is not your own personal photo? Thank you very much! Thanks for uploading Image:Needham.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks for uploading File:Cofa.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
