Big Comic Book DataBase[edit]

Poorly written sentence about somebody's website. Advertising. Barely comprehsible. ike9898 20:47, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC)

  • Comment: according to Most wanted articles this page has 114 incoming links. If this page is deleted all those pages should be changed. - SimonP 21:13, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC)
Even if its deleted at this time, the article is still needed so those pages linking to it won't need to be changed. siroχo
Most of those links appear to have been added by someone with a few hours to kill [1]. Chris 00:48, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC) PS - according to Alexa, it has a rank of 1,377,759. Chris 00:50, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I didn't check out the links that carefully, thats a good point. Many should probably be removed. However, I still think the fact that a site has indexed so many comic books already merits some mention in Wikipedia, regardless of alexa ranking. siroχo 09:46, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC)
I'm really split on this one. I don't think that the site itself is notable, but the subject that the site covers certainly is, and the site is thus a link to another reference site that covers a topic that I don't think we should be covering on Wikipedia proper. It would be ideal to make another mediawiki project to handle comics, but I think this is a particular case where we should allow an article to exist as a gateway to another excellent reference outside of our scope. I'm going to vote Keep, but note that I don't think this should set a precedent for other similar sites to be included. --Improv 19:25, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • It's a bad article, but there should be an article at this name, so keep and expand/cleanup. siroχo 21:50, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC)
  • Note: I've given it a bit of stub treatment. Still not great, but it's enough to be the spawn of an article. siroχo 22:03, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC)
  • There's 114 links to this because someone linkspammed the site on at least 114 comic book-related articles. The fact that nobody fixed all 114 red links does not mean that this should be kept. -Sean Curtin 00:50, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC)
  • In its current state, this stub seems borderline keep-able. Not that I advocate or condone linkspamming, but despite such tactics, the website/database passes as notable enough. Niceguyjoey 01:14, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. Remove all but legitimate links. I don't approve of spamming, but the site is useful and does deserve an entry imho. Lee M 02:41, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Merge and redirect to Big Cartoon DataBase. Gamaliel 05:32, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. By the way, this article is getting better. I like it! -- Toytoy 16:07, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC)
  • My only question: Do comic fans actually use this site? -- Toytoy 02:34, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)

  • Comic Art & Graffix Gallery Virtual Museum & Encyclopedia [3] Alexa ranking: 692,115
  • Big Comic Book DataBase [4] Alexa ranking: 1,377,759 (not very good) -- Toytoy 02:47, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)
