DABS
No, I'm not planning on changing those redirs to disamb pages. Some time ago I defined what dab means to me (most link changes that are better at getting to the most appropiate, least ambiguous article) on my edit glossary and no one else has commented on it. I believe I've seen others use it similarly. My understanding/belief is that it is preferred that users not see redirect messages at the tops of pages unnecessarily. The other main reason I go thru getting rid of redir messages is because, while I'm at the page anyway, I regularly find other, often more serious, issues to fix (I enjoy Wikipedia "housekeeping" far more enjoyable than adding articles). As for the specific page you mentioned, I thot the text comments were clear enuf that the same point was made still with my changes, but apparently you don't agree, so I won't bother trying to make them again. India and vocabulary
I noticed that you removed the words antediluvian , nascence & paroxysms. I use Wordweb as my electronic dictionary. Antediluvian literaly means "before the Deluge." In terms of years, it translates to before 1500 BC. Although it is derived from the great flood, it also means ancient. Nascence means birth. Paroxysms mean sudden attack (generally used for fits). The reason why I am mentioning you this is that I have improved my vocabulary thanks to wikipedia. A simple English page is a feature of Wikipedia, so if anyone has a difficulty in understanding high english, he can refer to the article there. Canadian reserves
Originally there was a fair bit of information about Canadian reserves in Indian reservation, which is probably why it had a category link to Canadian Indian reserves. Then the information was moved to Indian reserve, and it just seemed to me that there wasn't enough about reserves in the article about reservations to justify the category link. If you think a link is appropriate I won't be upset if you put it back. And thanks for asking. PBrain 01:36, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- It had struck me, too, that there wasn't a lot about reservations in the article, either, and your solution seems appropriate. The history of reservations seems interesting (I did a little research on the Munsee, who got royally shafted in Oklahoma) but a proper treatment probably requires someone a little more familiar with American history than I am. This user is turning all of this thing about his editing to The Rowdyruff Boys into an edit war. He says "many fans of the show wanted the boys to reappear on the show." I tried to say that were weren't terribly many out there, but he's giving me a hard time. And besides, he doesn't have to much value here because all he spends his time doing is editing the Rowdyruff Boys and Powerpuff Girls pages, and has not made very many edits. In other words, this user claims that 462 people signed some petition over the internet in favor for the Rowdyruff Boys to make another appearance on Powerpuff Girls, and from what I know since the time the show came out, I don't think that there was a lot, and 462 doesn't sound like a big number to me. Georgia state highway numbers for interstates
These are the correct GDOT state highway numbers for the interstate highways that run through Georgia. Eventually, I'm sure there will be a list of Georgia state highways, and this will make everything consistent. –radiojon 03:23, 2004 Jul 18 (UTC)

It's not because of the text; thousands of other redirects such as Syracuse, UT, work just fine (for me, at least). - You are broadcasting credulity here when you say this: "although at some point he realized...". If that is true that Kerry "realized" something about the new, violent bent of VVAW, why the heck is he today still in communication with Camil, the man who advanced the suggestion about killing politicians?
- Other than Kerry saying so (which he has NOT done), what evidence is there that Kerry's belated break from VVAW in mid 1972 was anything other than a career move? Where is the evidence of a "realization"? Your bald face assertion is all that there is.
- Quite the opposite, the reason cited by Kerry's web site as to why he left VVAW is this exact quote: "Although Kerry was a leader of the VVAW, he eventually left it after concluding that the most effective way to oppose the war was to run for public office...". Quote source here
- Frankly, you are duping yourself if you think the record supports the simplistic view of this issue which you are offering.

Schoolcraft=Crazy
Hey! Schoolcraft was off his rocker if you ask me. :) The Michigan list is kind of part of a series; see County (United States)#County name etymologies. There's definitely a lot of overlap between the list of counties, the county pages themselves, your sandbox list and the etymology list; but I thought one place that summarized the basics "Chippewa was named for the Chippewa people"; "Arenac was a name invented Schoolcraft; for further analysis of its complicated roots, see the Arenac County page?" I started the series with List of California county name etymologies—I'm basically trying to follow in the footsteps of that. What do you think? jengod 18:52, Aug 6, 2004 (UTC)

Cameron Kerry - Break-in "paraphrase
While I am still taking time to review the single quotation point I made earlier, I have a link which explains that your "paraphrase" supposition on the sentence in question should not be relied upon. According to this link which has information from the Comp 1120 course at the University of Minnesota, if one is paraphrasing correctly one should "[Use] your own words, but NOT your opinions or interpretations of the information you're paraphrasing. No first person or second person are necessary.". As I read this, it's pretty clear to me that in the sentence in question, if it is a well written paraphrase, would not be mis-stating the central fact of whether or not there was in deed a break-in committed. And since we can presume that NY Times has 1st rate writers and copy editors who do not change facts when they paraphrase, there is every reason to interpret the sentence the way I suggest and no reason to interpret it your way. There was a break in. Cameron Kerry and mr. Vallely did commit that break-in and this is precisly what the New York Times has reported. Rex071404 01:56, 12 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- While it is certainly reasonable to expect that the NYT reporter is likely paraphrasing correctly, it is yet a rather weak authority to peg an entire argument on. If there were other sources which confirmed the same thing, then I would have no problem. - The Category:Australian people would be more appropriate as it already exists and is partially populated. Please try to find and use existing categories rather than creating new redundant cateogories. If you have to create a new category, please try to fit it into a categorization schema. When you add an article to a category, if the category shows up as a red link, there is a very good likelihood that the category does not yet exist. In such cases, you should either 1) try to find an appropriate existing category; or 2) if an appropriate category does not exist, then after creating the category be sure to include the newly created category as a subcategory of appropriate higher level categories. I'll look at that. I'm a little mystified that there's no alias mechanism — one should be able to refer to things in any way one chooses (subject to being NPOV). Perhaps there's an explanation in the page you mention. Mr. Jones 20:11, 13 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Categories are an entirely different thing than articles and many things that work for articles either do not work at all or work differently with cateogries. For example, no redirects, can't move categories, piping categories changes how an article sorts on the category page, not how it appears. older≠wiser 20:20, 13 Aug 2004 (UTC)

The illustration you have of Michigan senator Henry P. Baldwin appears in my Oxford Companion to the United States Supreme Court as the likeness of Henry Baldwin, an associate justice of the United States Supreme Court.
