Talk:Count Saint-Germain

My original intent was to write an article about the fictional character of Saint-Germain that is the basis of a series of novels by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. But I got side-tracked into revising the article on the historical character and I'm sure many people will be upset with the results. (Although I tried to reduce the unbelievable aspects of his history as I revised.)

It's difficult to write an objective article about the historical Count Saint-Germain because while there indisputably was such a person the objective evidence is almost non-existent and we have to rely on statements he made or that were made about him by his contemporaries. But it's impossible to read even just the eyewitness statements without realizing how many people fell for his reputation. I don't beleive Saint-Germain was an immortal, but it's clear many of his contemporaries did and made statements based on this belief. So seperating out the facts from the fallacies is almost impossible. The best suggestion I can make is to treat Saint-Germain as a semi-mythological figure like Achilles or Gilgamesh.
