Regarding the "continuation" in the Karelian Isthmus article, I don't know how much of a newbie you are here around, but asuming you are, I guess you will change your mind with regard to inserted "by X called" in due time. If there were another name for that war in English, then that would be used in the English wikipedia, regardless of what the Finns call it. However, that's the term used by textbooks on history. The Finns call it either "Fortsättningskriget" or "Jatkosota" depending on mother tongue. But for now, I don't think that it matters much. :)
Another thing is that the southern delimination of the isthmus itches me. I would assume, that the actual istmus (geographically speaking) really continues also on the Russian side of the 1721-border, all the way down to River Neva, although much of that area today might be suburban and urban parts of the Saint Petersburg metropolis.

Geographically speaking, it would be true that the isthmus covers the northern part of St. Petersburg down to the river Neva. However, when St. Petersburgers talk about going to the Karelian isthmus, say, for the weekend, they mean the non-urban Baltic coastline north of the city. --Kolt 07:36, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Who lost the Karelian Isthmus?[edit]
I won't change your last edit, but I hope you know that our Finnish friends make a for them important distinction between the Winter War-losses at the battle field, and the Moscow Peace-losses at the negotiation table. The conscript army was responsible only for the former. Details, details... but don't be chocked if you sooner or later find your choice of words criticized. :->>

Considering that the post-Winter-War border largely coincided with the actual frontline at the end of the hostilities, could it be that Finns who blame their politicians for poor bargaining in Moscow are not unlike silly Germans who blamed their politicians for losing World War One at the negotiating tables in Compiègne and Versailles? --Kolt 10:22, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Germans[edit]
Well, actually, my chief reason to write you is (with regard to our latest exchange of thoughts at Talk:Battle of Stalingrad#No need to worry) that you might be interested in User:Ruhrjung/Germans, which maybe, if it's possible to reach some kind of consensus among wikipedia-Germans, will replace the current redirect at Germans.
The background is that I for long (a year, actually) have been itched by the way Wikipedia-links are done with often sloppy distinctions between nationality, citizenship and ethnicity (with regard to persons) and also between nations and countries. This is particularly obvious in the case of people or entities that are denoted as German. A link to the Federal Republic of Germany is often outright unhistorical and wrong, but this has until now been the most usual.
Therefore I'm considering an article on Germans, started at the temporary location User:Ruhrjung/Germans. My current idea is to re-link strange [[Germany|German]] to [[Germans|German]]. A problem is however that even among Germans the issue of who is a German, and who is not, is controversial and only uneasily discussed.

Hi, I saw you uploaded Image:Lensiege.jpg, an image of soldiers during the siege of Leningrad. It's used at the article siege, which I'm hoping to nominate as a featured article. However, it can't be approved unless all the images have proper sources mentioned on the image page. That's the only one that doesn't have source information.
