Should contests like Writers Of The Future be included in the awards or listed elsewhere?

You'll probably have to ask someone else less biased - I am personally alergic to everything that has to do with L.R.H. - WojPob

I don't see why it shouldn't. It's a contest and it's about science fiction. --Pinkunicorn

But awards like the Nebula and the Hugo are generally considered to be more worthy than contests such as Writers Of The Future (or any similar contest). The difference between awards and contests in my eyes is that awards are given to books that have been published, where as publication is the rewards for a contest.

Hugos and Nebulas are usually won by established writers. WOTF is explicitly targeting new writers. Of course there's a difference in scale, but I think the principle is the same. Actually, winning the WOTF contest probably makes a bigger difference for an author that isn't published before than getting yet another Hugo does for Harlan Ellison. --Pinkunicorn
