I'm flattered you'd be willing to nominate Lord's Resistance Army. Please do. It can only get better through the critiquing process. It clearly cries out for a few pictures, and I've been kicking myself since I started editing it for not taking a personal camera along when I was in northern Uganda a few years ago. the leaking small tag is by design. slightly subversive, I suppose, I preferred to have the talk-page link in smaller size and ended up thinking, why not the datestamp, too. Re the rfar, it still lacks a vote to even be heard. I suppose it will be rejected. I feel I have done more than my duty in this case, and have no wish to lurch through mediation with this character (I maintain it's not "me" vs. "him", even though he likes to play the victim. Thanks for the advice Mark. I am planing on expanding the article, I'm still working out what information to add, though. I'm not really sure if I should focus on the historical aspects, the current organization/operations, or a combination of the two. Is the current status of the base suitable to an encyclopedia? I would say that the current state of the base is indeed suitable to an encyclopedia. Wikipedia is the only encyclopedia that allows such up to date information; it can easily be changed. Of course, the historical aspects are important as well. So I'd go for both! — mark ✎ 09:22, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I like Corea most for his truly original creativity. Other artists who often give me that same feeling are Keith Jarrett and Herbie Hancock. Do you know CoreaHancock, the collaboration between (obviously) Corea and Hancock? It's a live set, both are improvising on a Steinway grand piano. Great music, you really should try that one. I should add Miles Davis as well, especially my favorite albums Someday my prince will come and Porgy and Bess.
Some other favorite artists/albums of mine (not necessecarily in any way related to Chick Corea though):
  • Grant Green (Idle Moments / Grantstand) — great, laid back soul-jazz
  • Horace Silver (Fingerpoppin' with the Horace Silver Quintet / Song for my Father)
  • Thelonious Monk (Solo Monk)

I am happy to use wikipedia, I would like to be a wikipedian. I have made some contribution related to Africa, Berber, Tuareg etc. I will continue to add more contributions on subjects I know. Now I need a help: I have uploaded an image: tagelmust (the Tuareg veil). I want to add it to Tuareg article, but I do not know how. Secondly: I want to create a Tuareg page, in Tamashek language. I need your help, if possible. Best greetings.

Hi Ameno, you can find the ins and outs of adding images here: Wikipedia:Extended_image_syntax. Basically, it comes down to something like [[Image:tagelmust.jpg|right|thumb|The Tuareg veil]]. Then you can place that line in the article at the place where you want the picture to be shown.
As for the Tuareg page in Tamasheq, I don't know if I understand what you mean. If you mean an encyclopedia article in Tamasheq, well, the best place of course would be the Tamasheq Wikipedia, only I believe there isn't a Tamasheq Wikipedia yet. (However, you could try to ask User:Node_ue about that, since he is more into Wikipedias in other languages than I am.) In the meantime, the best place to write in Tamasheq here might be a subpage on your own userpage, since you have sort of free hand there. If you create a wikilink like this: [[User:Ameno/Tamasheq]], you can click on it and create the page.

Mark, I don't know if you have people around to tell you to stop fiddling with an article already—I do, or I would never ever be finished with anything. (As you saw, there are even people who will rip a half-formed article sadly lacking the Dutch dimension right out of my userspace and put it on FAC themselves—a bit extreme, that!) Culture and language in the Congo[edit]

Hullo. Thanks for your words on my Arbitration page. I'm working on a large article on the culture of the DRC (User:Xed/draft5), and I wonder if you could look at it - if you have time. Hi, Xed! Actually, I'm not content at all with Image:African_trade_languages.png. I made it in a rush when I was working on a rewrite of African languages and I didn't bother to check much sources. So you could very well be right — in fact, I trust your judgment. Thing is, I need reliable sources for each and every language that I want to place on the map; and additionally, I need reliable sources that tell me which languages to include. That takes a lot of time... So I'm thinking of orphaning (or even deleting) it, and do a better version when I have the time. I'll keep your comments in mind though and will certainly adjust the Swahili and Lingala areas by then.
I've put Culture of the DRC draft on my watchlist and I'll see if I can contribute something. It looks good! (Dare I say that it's good to see you countering systemic bias instead of changing personal pronouns?). Whatever. Warmest regards, — mark ✎ 01:03, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Sampa and Banda[edit]

The slave market is mentioned on an official web site (sorry I don't have the URL to hand) in a context that suggests it's a tourist attraction, but I hope others will be better informed on this matter. rossb 16:34, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I found the website and I saw what you mean. I assume that the slave trading took place mainly in the period when the region was along a trans-Saharan trade route.
