The System of Objects

by Jean Baudrillard

New York, Verso, 1996.

Ideas of the well-known French philosopher are here concentrated around the problem of objects in our society. Everything concerning our lives, from culture to work to affections, could be reduced to the presence of objects replacing our lives and giving it a material existence. Thus, everything could be reduced to its surface and exist as simulacra of itself.

The choice of this title to join the mediography would sound provokative among several references to Net Art and concepts concerning unmaterial works of art. In order to leave a way open towards other critical meaning, this book would represent the other face of the problems we discuss weekly.
