What is is wrong with article "STARCKDEUTSCH"?

Well:

  • Is it well known?
  • Is it widely used?
  • Has it been created by someone notable?

You may want to discuss the article too at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion. Don't forget to sign your edits! :) Dysprosia 10:02, 15 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Well: It comes from a notable direction of language in Germany called dadaism. What do you know about that?

Okay, well, I suggest you make mention of it at the Starckdeutsch page, and how it relates to dadaism. If you point me to some web links about Starckdeutsch and Koeppel, I'll try and add some stuff too. Thanks :) Dysprosia 10:10, 15 Oct 2003 (UTC)

OK Simone hye 10:13, 15 Oct 2003 (UTC)

BTW you can sign with 4 tildes: ~~~~ :) Dysprosia 10:14, 15 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I wrote the info on Hrucidek and Tenerelarth. I wrote the Tennerel texts and am a co-author of the five series of Tennerel. What do you have against it?

I have nothing personally against it - however if these works have not entered widespread knowledge/publicity &/c, and that not many have heard of it, it probably is not suitable for inclusion in the Wikipedia.

If you feel otherwise, let me know, I will replace the articles but I will list them on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion and let the Wikipedia community decide.

Thanks Dysprosia 02:59, 16 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Author of Tennerel - Ask anyone at Evansville Day School. Anyway, at least leave the pages and allow everyone here to vote, because that would be something a democracy would do.

Ok, at your request I'll do so. Dysprosia 00:16, 17 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Thanks so much for editing and fixing Jon Frum after I filled it in! I know next to nothing about Wikipedia but I'm going to try to flesh out that article a little more soon. 24.153.54.176 04:38, 16 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Hey, I can't take all the credit :) I just helped push the ball rolling :) Dysprosia 08:32, 16 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I'm silsor now. Silsor 14:26, 16 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Uh, Dysprosia? My name's Ke_l_vin, not Kevin. But everyone gets that wrong. Kelvin_Palm 15:23, 15 Oct 2003 [GMT-6]

Dysprosia,

You suggested that I merge the Dune (novel) page with Dune Synopsis. I understand your point; but my synopsis is a complete and total spoiler, which people could inadvertently read while reading about the novel in general. I'm very interested on your take on this because I have similar synopis for the other novels in the Dune sequence. I'm new to the Wikipedia, so forgive my mistakes.

Do you see that this will have similar content duplicated? Having duplicated content makes it harder to maintain, track, and update. We already have the procedure where we put a spoiler note in (as you can see on Dune), this should be sufficient.

As to the other novels, not many of them are actual links, so perhaps putting a non-spoily introduction in, warn for spoilers, then launch into the synopsis may be a good structure to follow.

It's not really a mistake, in any case! :) Kudos for adding a lot of good content, keep it up! Dysprosia 11:26, 18 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I'll merge the two pages together as you suggest. ChrisG

Re:Bernard Hopkins - not a problem. RickK

Yeah, don't worry about my part in Bernard Hopkins, either...I was in a lousy mood when I put that comment on the talk section. John

I don't have much time on my hands at the moment, but it looks like a great site. Will check out formatting conventions as suggested. Thanks. =) Tlogmer

Do you know when will the Season IV be on? Or maybe we could add a timeline of the first 3 seasons? but I don't know the date, do u know that? well, So far as i know, it's Showtime's original series, as every time it was on, that message appeared. :D --FallingInLoveWithPitoc 11:44, 20 Oct 2003 (UTC)

No idea, unfortunately. I don't get to watch it much, and we're getting repeats (I think) here in Australia... Dysprosia 11:48, 20 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Whether you use Kazaa or not, is not the point, I'm afraid. You can't add copyrighted material, where you do not own the copyrights, here at all - not even if you're going to change them afterward, the GFDL (see Wikipedia:Copyrights) says that all contributions to Wikipedia are considered to be released under the GFDL; the same notice you see under each page you edit here. If you post copyrighted material - a contribution - it is a violation of this because you don't own the copyrights to the material so you cannot release it under the GFDL.

If you take the material you have written and remove any vestiges of copied material - it should be okay to put back.

Those 86 different websites, by the way, are in violation of their copyright.

Thanks Dysprosia 11:24, 21 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Even if the material is changed, the page must still be deleted because the copyrighted material is still in the page history. On all those websites where the text is on, it says "Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition, Copyright (c) 2003." That means Wikipedia can't place it under the GFDL without permission, so it can't be here. Evil saltine 11:28, 21 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Yes, that's what I'm suggesting - move the Talk "clean" copy back after the original is deleted. Dysprosia 11:29, 21 Oct 2003 (UTC)

O.K. I understood. Next time I'll do it in my sandbox. Only now I can see how it is so quickly here. When I try to edit, someone else do it for me a second later. Ben Hteva.
That's okay -- but even better, you could edit it offline in a text editor so you can update and modify it at will before you submit -- no edit conflicts! :) Dysprosia 11:38, 21 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Dysprosia, I just discovered Mythrandia's petty fiddling with my user page a few days ago, and your reversion of it. Just wanted to let you know I appreciated it, and I'll do the same for you sometime if necessary. :) Many thanks -- Jwrosenzweig 15:57, 21 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Aww, is nothin :) Glad to help Dysprosia 22:29, 21 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Please see the Talk page for SP for my take on whether the definition was NPOV. Noel 15:23, 22 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Thank you for your helpful message.

As I think you found out, just because I run a company doesn't mean I'm a bad guy! I do have things to offer. Thanks for the welcome and the tip. Mike Schinkel 25 Oct 2003

Hello Dysprosia! About the list mania. I'm glad you agree with me in the biracial people nonsense. I had an idea to create a WIKILISTS, like wikctionary or wikiquote. It could even be WIKITRIVIA. Nobody listened, except you i guess. Will you do some lobbying with me? I supose you are a sysop, so you will get more atention than me. Where do you think i could post this proposal to get atention? Cheers, Muriel Gottrop 12:04, 25 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Stick it on the Village pump. You'll get plenty of eyes looking over your proposal. If you put some comments around, I'll give you some support, since if it seems so popular; that many are creating so many lists, I'm sure it'd get a lot of contributors! :) Dysprosia 12:06, 25 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Good morning! I followed your suggestion and added a proposal to Village Pump. I also created Wikipedia:Wikitrivia discussion for debate. Cheers, Muriel Gottrop 07:39, 27 Oct 2003 (UTC)

D, thanks for your help cleaning up Penis-melting Zionist robot combs. Paul Klenk 01:03, 26 Oct 2003 (UTC)

no probs :) Dysprosia 01:12, 26 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Sorry, I just realised that in reverting Pakaran's revert at the village pump I removed your last comment which I didn't realise was there. Anyway, the reason Paul removed the section originally was because it should have been reported at Sourceforge, not there, which is what I assume what he is going to do now. Hope you don't mind. Just put the section back if you do. Angela 02:25, Oct 26, 2003 (UTC)

It's okay - doesn't matter all that much, I was just curious :) Dysprosia 02:32, 26 Oct 2003 (UTC)

"how could we forget the humble 404?"

Forget?? Hey, Random Page dumps an ugly mess on my desk; i turn it into an organized ugliness; i click Save Page. Where does remembering or forgetting anything come into it?

Aww, it was just a little humor, didn't mean anything nasty by it. Sorry if you thought I did. Dysprosia 03:55, 26 Oct 2003 (UTC)

No, don't be sorry; i probably should remember what may mama told me, and speak more politely to strangers. I enjoyed your humor, and hoped to reciprocate -- by joking about how little knowledge of the subject matter it takes to do something that is (hopefully!) an improvement.

And of course you learn a little either by editing, or seeing what your colleagues edit as you go out the door. Once i look at your edit, i have a clearer recollection of having seen 404 after all -- once, maybe twice [wink] -- and a much better feel for what made a previous editor make that analogy.

Which is to say: TNX! --Jerzy 05:16, 2003 Oct 26 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for pointing out my mistake with 2toise's talk page. I've moved my comment. But what should I do about the page I mistakenly posted to originally? Simply remove all the content, or do I delete the whole thing somehow? (As you can probably tell from all this, I'm not too clear on how these Talk pages work. :-) ) - Vardion 08:39, 26 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I've deleted it. As to talk pages, there's two ways of getting to them; click the User link, then the "Discuss this page" link, or going User_talk:username in the address field after http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/.
HTH :) Dysprosia 08:41, 26 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Re Battle of Chang Ban, this is apparently a single mission out of a video game. If this is correct, it should be removed completely and folded into the main game article -- if there is one. User:Maury Markowitz

*makes helpless faces* I don't know anything about the Battle of Chang Ban, I merely copyedited it and made it look pretty, s'all... Dysprosia 21:31, 28 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Question for you on m:Talk:Development status. -- Tim Starling 02:41, Oct 30, 2003 (UTC)

Hey! Thanks for the support! I'm really wondering about this... Can it be reverted if things get out of hand for me? Sometimes i wonder if this wiki-business is more a curse or a blessing in my life... Muriel Gottrop

You mean lose your admin powers? Yes, you can do so if you wish, but I don't know what good that will do - being an admin isn't an obligation to use your powers, just the possibility that you can do so because you are a trusted member of the community is enough (I think this is correct, this is how I feel anyway) :) Dysprosia 10:44, 30 Oct 2003 (UTC)
