Good question. I know I've been reading about playground equipment issues for many years but I haven't found anything definitive in the way of lawsuits, changes in the law, statistics on injuries, or whatever. I haven't looked *really* hard, but it would be nice for all playground equipment to know what spurred the changes. Elf | Talk 20:34, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC)

The author may be referring to his childhood memories. The playgrounds are still there; the author hopefully doesn't frequent them at this point.

Etymology[edit]

Is there any information besides the single reference that "chin-up bar" is the proper term for these things? It seems unusual considering the variety of actions that can be done on them. In the image, the child on the left isn't even bringing his chin over the bar, he's bringing his legs up and doing something of a horizantal row.
