NewsRadio was a sitcom broadcast from 1995 to 1999 by NBC. The series was set at a New York City radio station, WNYX.
The Show[edit]
The show NewsRadio was created by Paul Simms. Some people considered the show to be an example of screwball comedy, with frequent usage of physical comedy. The show had a number of problems with NBC, with the shows timeslot being changed seven times in five years. Also, one episode, "Injury", was delayed for over a year because of problems with its content. After the fourth season of the show, on May 28, 1998 Phil Hartman was killed. The show replaced him with Jon Lovitz. After the fifth season, the plan for the series was to have the setting moved to New Hampshire, but it was cancelled.
