Call for Membership Meeting[edit]

As AMA Coordinator I am requesting that suggestions be placed on Wikipedia:AMA Membership Meeting plans for our first membership meeting, to be held in the near future, (hopefully before any election occurs.) Since we have never had any kind of "official" meeting we need to discuss how this will occur (i.e. Wiki pages or IRC channel), how it will be structured (i.e. meeting agenda) and if there will be any "chair" to supervise the meeting and meeting "secretary" to write up minutes or keep some kind of official record of what transpires. Thanks in advance for your input and your continued work as an advocate. — © Alex756 19:34, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Human Rights Servey on Wikipedia (The final post of I_sterbinski)[edit]

Dear all,
Wikipedia was recently a subject of intensive research of an huge international human right organization. A team of people from different nationalities and ages were acting on Wikipedia for 20 days, investigating previously noted anomalities of Wikipedia free editing and forming a final report, which (between the others similar reports) will later be a guide to all future moves of the organization concerning Wikipedia. Acting under an account of a real person, their privacy is to be held private. Therefore, very few private information will be revealed.
Also, this is a result of the lack of final possition of the organization concerning Wikipedia and human rights, which was still not formed.
The team's final post on Wikipedia, where they explain their actions can be found on the following addresses:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:I_sterbinski
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Macedonia#Human_Rights_Servey_on_Wikipedia_.28The_final_post_of_I_sterbinski.29
The team would like to thank to all the persons who took part in the correspondence with us.
We also want to appologise for keeping our identity secret for a longer period.
Best regards,
Aleksandar, Biljana, Asparuh, Christos, Valjon, Michael and Ana Luiza

Can you please assist. I would like some advice on what approach should be adopted in this situation 1) to have appropriate sanctions brought to bear and 2) to have the record corrected. I think I can handle the advocacy side possibly with guidance from someone experienced in matters Wikipedian.

Any advice and suggestions about the most appropriate way to take this forward would be appreciated. I assume there is no Wiki "gaol" to put forgers behind bars, nor any Wiki crime of cyberspace forgery?

Summary: An Administrator fabricates a complaint by deleting content himself from the Admins Noticeboard, falsifies the record, imposes a block and brazenly maintains his stance even when challenged by other editors.
Evidence:-
  • I reported an incident fully documented with evidence to the Administrator's notice board [[1]]
  • the Administrator deletes content from the report which content shows the report is well-founded [[2]]
  • the Administrator applies a false edit summary stating "Reverted edits" ... "to last version by Essjay" but there is no "last version by Essjay"
  • User:Essjay then improperly blocks the other editor (ie. me) [[3]] for no valid reason
  • when challenged by a third party editor [[4]] User:Essjay is so confident he will be protected he says "I suggest you raise the issue on AN/I;" and says "I stand behind my block of an IP address that was caught redhanded removing commentary from AN/I and harassing other contributors." Note however:-
  • the only commentary removed was by User:Essjay and none was removed by the blocked user (me)
  • the evidence in the blocked user's documented AN/I report shows clearly he was not harrassing but was reporting harrassment, baiting and disruption by the user that User:Essjay here protects.
  • the third party editor then points out (see second green block of text here [[5]]) that it was User:Essjay who deleted the content from AN/I and not me
  • another third party editor asks User:Essjay to explain [[6]] but User:Essjay again provides no specifics. However, what he does say links the block directly to the blocked editor's AN/I report on Wikipedia.

This Admin appears to be part of a network of Admins and users the existence of which and collaboration between members of which enables this sort of thing to happen. A small part of the evidence of the existence of this sub-culture can be seen here [[7]]. User:Essjay simultaneously with imposing the improper block, surreptitiously deletes content from the my talk page. That content is a small part of the evidence documenting the existence of this particular sub-culture.

In addition to having sanctions for this discreditable behaviour, I would like the record corrected so that there is no block recorded against my IP address.

Requesting help ang guidence for a particular edit war[edit]

Hi. Can you please tell me what is the best way to resolve a particular edit war? I invite you to see the artice, Babylon, and specifically, the Babylon under Persia section. Please look at the discussion page. It appears two to three users have some sort of alliance on Wikipedia, and help each other with edit wars; this way the avoid the 3rr violation. ThanksZmmz 21:50, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for members advocate[edit]

Dear Amicus curiae, I am looking for an advocate. Are you available? You can read about the dispute on my talk page. Otto ter Haar 22:33, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Will you be my Chief of Staff [a Member Advocate] in an upcoming and JUST edit war?[edit]

Dear Amicuscuriae: The Wikipedia article, Ten Lost Tribes, has been tagged for clean up. I have some expertise in this subject matter and am willing to do an NPOV clean up. However, the article itself (as well as the associated discussion) CLEARLY shows that a small group of religious propagandists have MISUSED this article (and Wilipedia) - converting it into a forum for their religious propaganda - while IGNORING any NPOV presentation of the objective, factual information that is available on this topic. Their discussions also show that they have been engaging in preventing ANY changes at all to their IRRELEVANT religious propaganda on this topic. Please help in the clean up of this Wikipedia article. Regards, --Hrhdavid 02:21, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Need help - I feel intimidated by cop who is editor[edit]

Hi, I am reaching out to you with an odd situation even for Wikipedia. I attempted to edit the article on John Littlechild 1who led the first Special Irish Branch for the UK police and who also investigated the Jack the Ripper and Oscar Wilde cases. I saw that the article only touched on the career points of the subject. I noted that the formation of the Special Branch was opressive to the Irish and that Littlechild has a homophobe for his prosecution of Wilde.

These edits were promptly removed several times by editor Ben W. Bell 2 - a pro British Irishman. The editor Necrothesp 3 -- who authored the article -- also removed various entries. I even reduced the entry to say that the formation of the Special Branch was oppressive to the Irish and nothing more. This too was removed under the excuse that I was offering a POV and not a neutral objective fact.

I was going to get administrators to act as third parties but became intimidated by one simple fact -- on Necrothesp's user page its states that he is a British cop and a member of the U.K. Territorial army. I could go on forever talking about why the British police should not be allowed to edit articles on Northern Ireland but that would be useless. I travel in the UK a great deal and the police have special powers to trace users of any BBS system.

Necrothesp and Ben W. Bell also kept posting on my talk page after I said I felt intimidated. I asked them nicely to leave unitl after the editing conflict wass resolved but they still kept posting. I feel very intimidated. I would like to revise the article with more solid sources but fear being ganged up on again by Necorthesp the cop and his friend Ben W. Bell. In the last entry he made on my talk page Necorthest suggested I leave Wikipedia altogether which is very intimidating coming from someone who is a policeman 4.

I would still like to edit the article but would like you or some other advocate to watch what is being said and done. Please help!

I look forward to hearing from you.
