Tarish language was already listed for speedy deletion before I got to it. The search "Tarish language" gets no hits on Google, so its status is debatable to say the least.

As a new user, you may not be aware that you should add comments to the bottom of a talk page, not the top, and it's polite to sign your comments, which you can do easily as described above. jimfbleak 06:55, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Tarish[edit]

Why do you find the language spoken by many people to be not notable? Do you dislike the Irish Travelers? -- Rachel

It has nothing to do with my feelings about Irish Travelers (not that I have any), not notable merely means that I don't think the subject of the article isn't famous/big/common enough to merit any entry in an encyclopedia.

People use encylopedias to learn about things that they don't know about. There is a page for the Klingon Language which is a fictional language! Surely, one page for a language used by an ethnic minority is just as worthy as that for a fake language used on tv. There are over 6,000 languages. There are thousands, if not tens of thousands of constructed languages too. Would you have us include all of them too because "Somebody speaks them"? I doubt a language I can find so little reference to is of so much importance (to the world in general I mean, how important it is to you is entirely up to you). --fvw * 14:29, 2004 Nov 26 (UTC)

Rare languages are fine, in my view; but more evidence of their existence is needed than the testimony of a single bishop of an obscure church. Can you cite any academics, or at least non-members of this church, that have mentioned the language? There are many publications on Shelta, and if this is a dialect of Shelta it should be mentioned in one of them. Please don't take offense, but linguistic fakery has unfortunately afflicted several articles here (notably Algonquian languages), and we do need to be careful. - Mustafaa 00:51, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

As I am neither an academic nor a member of their church, I can only cite what I have found by search engines:

At least one fundamentlist Christian group in America identifies Tarish (tarshish) with England [click here]

So there appears to be two differenct churches which identity Tarish (Tarshish) with England. There is a specific location in Engalnd called Tarish. In an obituary, I found that Heaton - Mary, A. (Hill) was born in Tarish, England, Dec. 12, 1880; [click herel]

It doesnt's seem to far fetch that they would believe that their language evolved from Tarshish. Professor MacAlister speculated in his book Shelta: The Secret Languages of Ireland that priests had invented Shelta. Perhaps these priests gave them a "noble ancestry." I still believe that, regardless of their bliefs, their language should be respected. -Ms. Greenberg 02:11, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Leelee Sobieski[edit]

You, or someone using your account, appears to have added the text "Her hobbies inlcude reading French poetry, long walks in the autumn time, and being spanked by much older gentlemen." to Leelee Sobieski. (See [1]). In the absence of any evidence for this assertion, I have removed it from the article. I am also concerned that the edit summary accompanying this edit was "(sp)", which normally indicates fixing a spelling mistake. Since my account was used to vandalised other pages, and since mustafaa and Boco have hijacked my article on the tarish language, I have decided to leave Wikipedia.

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Tarish language, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
