English spellings[edit]

Wikipedia policy is to use consistent spellings, but it does not favour American English spelling. If an article connects to some country, you should use that country's spelling. Otherwise, you should go with whatever language was first used. Non-American spellings are standard throughout most of the world. See International English. Not "only in Britain". So before you change spellings, you should look through the page history to figure out what spelling was used first, and then use that one throughout. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Ah, I see that my response to your comment on my Talk page has been pre-empted by Guettarda. I'd only add a reminder to 'sign' your messages with four tildes, which makes it much easier to find and reply to you, and a welcome to Wikipedia. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 15:12, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
