Is this really such a well-known or universal term? (If it is, can I see some evidence? I only found about 2,000 references on Google [1], most of which were duplicates of this article or else from non-English sites. There were over 18,000 for "Tolkien fan". [2]) I think I qualify as a member of the group described, and I've rarely encountered it. (My personal experience has been that we do not have a single term of choice for "Tolkien fan".
