Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Montgomery bell academy

Not sure of the right procedure but I'm relisting this--it was moved to Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/old--because I believe it is now a clear keep in its present form. Major improvements were made just as the voting period expired. I want to extend the discussion period and make sure people talk about it a while longer before anyone deletes it. One-liner about a *boy's school* whose only claim to fame is that Bill Frist went there. Eck. blankfaze | (беседа!) 09:40, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. Either that, or we start an entry for every sub-atomic particle in the universe. Your choice. Noisy 11:13, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: Misnamed, non-notable (prob.). "'Clarence' is a quark orbiting a carbon atom in Senator Frist's tie." Geogre 13:01, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Comment. I'm on record as favoring deletion of articles like this. But... there appears to be no general consensus for deletion of articles about non-notable high schools, and Montgomery Bell Academy is a prep school serving grades 7-12, i.e. it's a high school. One which is no doubt important to the "more than 10,000 young men [it has sent] into the world since 1867, prepared by an exceptional, balanced education." I believe I'm going to remove the word "elite" from the silly article, however. Dpbsmith 20:07, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC) P. S. It gets 4400 Google hits, including about 7 or 8 in Google News; it seems as if it may be locally notable in the Nashville area particularly for its athletic teams... • Send to Clean Up, then. It really needs cleaning, since it took your independent research. It also needs a name change to fit Wiki conventions and to locate the place in its state (MBA, Nashville). Geogre 13:57, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Tormod July 14 2004 If you delete it, you will lose its funny nickname, used by all Nashvillians who did not matriculate there. Then again, it's not THAT funny.

  • Keep, keep, keep in present form. I guess the voting period is over but I want to say this emphatically. (Is saying it three times in boldface emphatic enough?) User:207.69.140.22 has improved it out of all recognition. IMHO the present article presents definite evidence of notability, and is generally a fine article. (About the only thing it needs now is a photograph...) Dpbsmith 17:23, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
    • Is saying it three times in boldface emphatic enough? - not sure, try adding blink and marquee tags too :). Thue | talk 18:47, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep present form. Thue | talk 18:47, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • The present article is a keeper. - Lucky 6.9 19:22, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • On record as keep already. Clean Up no longer needed. Geogre 01:21, 21 Jul 2004 (UTC)

  • This is a good example of why quick listing on vfd, based on early, stubbish content, is not the right thing to do. Keep.Jgm 23:05, 21 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • KEEP this is a legitimate article with no reason to delete it. In addition, the history of the school does not only include that of alumni Bill Frist but also of Sam Davis, Lt. Frank Andrews, and HCA founder Thomas Frist. These are all incredibly important reasons to keep this article, I'm not even sure why it was questioned in the first place. We all should be doing more editing rather than trying to delete articles that are completely legitimate Bjtitus 01:52, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
