Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Transnestria

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Transnestria was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was REDIRECT

This page has been listed as a copyright violation since December 3. The author claims to own the copyright for the text posted on his website (see Talk:Transnestria), but no efforts to remove the copyvio tag have been made. Also, there is already a Transnistria page, and the text here was just an article for a poltical magazine and not an encyclopedia entry. Martg76 04:11, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. I think this should have been handled in the copyvios page, not relisted here. jni 06:38, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • There is no copyright problem. See Wikipedia:Vandalism_in_progress#User:24.185.149.111, [User:Politician]. Merge and redirect content from before the copyvio notice. -- Jmabel | Talk 06:54, Dec 17, 2004 (UTC)
  • Does wikipedia allow adding extra invariant sections ("so long as people cite back to the site for which I work")? Still, I don't really like those kinds of restrictions, Delete. --fvw* 07:00, 2004 Dec 17 (UTC)
    • Citing back, one way or another, is required by GFDL. -- Jmabel | Talk 07:23, Dec 17, 2004 (UTC)
      • No, it is not. Wikipedia requires it, but that is in exchange for not mentioning the author and the version history, which is required by the GNU/FDL. GNU/FDL was made for paper publications, thus requiring a backlink would be strange at the least. - Andre Engels 09:56, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Abstain. There's nothing sriously wrong with the article. If there's no copyvio, why the problem?
  • Merge the few facts not already there into Transnistria - and facts aren't copyrighted, so no worries. Keep Transnestria as a redirect. Samaritan 10:21, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Redirect. Mark Richards 16:43, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Redirect and Delete, but not in that order. hfool 01:30, 22 Dec 2004 (UTC)

This page is now preserved as an archive of the debate and, like some other VfD subpages, is no longer 'live'. Subsequent comments on the issue, the deletion or on the decision-making process should be placed on the relevant 'live' pages. Please do not edit this page.
