Welcome! I moved Hindustani music (which actually redirects to Hindustani classical music) off of List of musical topics as it belongs on List of genres of music (specifically List of genres of music: G-M). Thanks. Hyacinth 19:38, 24 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Semi-protection policy
[edit]I've left this message on your Meta page as well, but I wanted to make sure you got this. At Wikipedia:Semi-protection policy, a couple users and myself are attempting to gather consensus about a possible change in editing. So as not to keep the community out of the loop, we've been posting to user talk pages, which seems to have worked. If you can add your thoughts to the talk page, it would be greatly appreciated. We've gone over a few issues, ranging from perception of anti-wiki to time limits, and recycling pagemove code, so you might want to check out #Rehashing to get up to speed. Thanks in advance, Mysekurity(have you seen this?) 21:44, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
Signature
[edit]I note from your contribution to the Edward Top deletion discussion, that you have a customized signature. Would it be possible for you to add a link to your user or talk page from this multicoloured signature, as this would help other editors "navigate to your talk page" to discuss matters with you and facilitate consensus in accordance with the relevant guidelines. Many thanks. -- MightyWarrior 14:18, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

CheckUser policy
[edit]If you reread the privacy policy, you'll see that revealing the IPs of abusive users is explicitly not prohibited in certain circumstances where it is necessary. meta:Privacy policy says personally identifiable data like IPs may be made public: "Where the user has been vandalising articles or persistently behaving in a disruptive way, data may be released to assist in the targeting of IP blocks". For instance, when a blocked user eveades the block simply by using their IP (which is common) there is no way to confirm that the IP is the blocked user and block it without conecting the username to the IP address. That was the case here. I don't release IPs lightly, but when the IP is one of the accounts used specifically for abuse, and where naming it is necessary for IP blocks, the privacy policy rightly allows me to name it. [edit]Oscar, ik raad je aan om per onmiddellijk mijn blokkade op nl:Wikipedia ongedaan te maken. Beschouw dit als je laatste kans. Guido den Broeder (talk) 08:56, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- @Guido, making threats like above ("I advice you to immediately undo your block of me on nl:Wikipedia. See this as your last chance.") won't help your case. I will leave it to Oscar to say how serious he regards this threat and to see if a block on the en-wiki should be requested. - Robotje (talk) 13:21, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, such statements are issued continuously by Oscar himself, so I guess that he will permaban himself shortly now. For a real threat, i.e. a statement containing that without compliance something will happen to the user, see [1] and his email of today. Guido den Broeder (talk) 13:58, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- In September 2007 the Dutch arbcom has assigned Oscar to be your mentor. You can decided you can ignore your mentor. You can also think you can 'fire' him as your mentor but in April the arbcom confirmed he continues to be your mentor. The arbcom also asked the other admins to leave blocking as much as possible to that mentor. So if needed, he as your mentor can block you on that Wikipedia and tell you that if you don't change a certain type of behaviour, you will be blocked again and potentially longer than before. If you feel these messages as a threat, so be it. But this 'threat' is clearly only about rights on Wikipedia like editing. Your threat is vague and since you know his full name and other personal details, your threat can easily be seen as a physical threat unless you specify what you mean by "Beschouw dit als je laatste kans." (in English: "See this as your last chance.") If you don't mean it that way, clearly say so. - Robotje (talk) 10:25, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Guido did reply to the above message but removed it shortly after [2]. In it he didn't make any attempt to clarify whether the threat is a physical threat or not. Since Oscar and Guido live in the same city I don't know what to think of it. - Robotje (talk) 12:21, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Robotje, please don't overreact. This is not a physical threat at all. Guido, a few points: first of all, please don't post in Dutch on the English Wikipedia. Second, if you don't want your situation on the Dutch Wikipedia discussed on the English one, then don't start a discussion about it yourself. Third, don't call people "trolls" in edit summaries. Fourth, finally, while I absolutely cannot see a physical threat in the above message of yours, it seems rather obvious that is intended as a legal threat, considering that you have acted in this manner on the same day (I presume after this final warning, but I can't be sure of this) on the Dutch Wikipedia according to this post by the Dutch Arbcom[3]. I have started a section on the administrator's noticeboard about this: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Complicated legal threat situation. Fram (talk) 08:47, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Oscar, I herewith want to let you know that alas I got rather irritated about some couples of reverting me last day (just out of my strange block before) while imho cleaning up the mess from Others edited last month into my talkpage in Holland. Disturbed again and again, during my attempts to get a better readable lay-out etc. As sharp seen by Lidewij et al. are those methods for infants in kindergarten, not for adult people like me. I still don't see better plausebility of your arguments given on my said page, nor the artificial connection you make between my (two) comments and the withdrawn PA from Celloman, of which all involved here made excuses for: me including too, but I could not properly react owing to your absurd letter renewal of blocking. As you ought to know I disliked all that sort of cabal = regarding some regimes (too) as you do. I only replaced the surrounding context in relation with the next sentence. - Mr. Baas on the contrary continually hindering my edits, is not so attacked, nor was your focus apparently directed towards me changing indentations, as was stated. All that sort of accusations are confussing, not only to me. I'll hope you to review your verdict, perhaps may it be soon, will it not again developing to totally unacceptable situations on several Wikipedia's. Meanwhile with kind regards. D.A. Borgdorff = 86.83.155.44 (talk) 00:48, 9 July 2008 (UTC) and very sorry for not fluently writing English owing to circumstances.
Borgdorff - e.i.i.c. = 86.83.155.44 (talk) 14:20, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- There is nor reason at all to threaten a dutch moderator here with possible legal actions. I find this despicable and below the belt. I trust my colleagues here will take action. For their informations - the sentence ben ik helaas genoodzaakt me over deze ongewenste gang van zaken nader te (laten) beraden. above means I feel urged to seek advice elsewhere about this unwanted course of events. MoiraMoira (talk) 17:21, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- Here you = MoiraMoira - spoke about a threatening that not came from me, but instead from you now : with a bad translation, while I just was asking Oscar in Dutch why he didn't respond to my Engish message about those absurd blockings without motivation, besides from "hunting" by you c.s. culminating into threatenings to my sole addresses on several Wikipediae, even with any unjustified dangers attendant on me personally and my family name: Borgdorff, stated through a persistant impersonator, that you admins (still) don't want to delete or remove away. Conclusion: I'm even banned from meta-wiki, because I did complain there, as well as here on the helpdesk and known Foundation-members. Always Obliged: \ D.A. [edit]Hi. When you recently edited Shirō Ishii, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Edwin Hill (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
