Opening Paragraph Statement Removed[edit]

"Hancock is one of jazz music's most important and influential pianists and composers."

This statement is too subjective and opinionated and does not meet Wikipedia's standards for neutrality. If you can find supporting documentation to back up this statement, please cite the source accordingly.

Why was "Miles Davis quintet and Blue Note" removed[edit]

Why was the "Miles Davis quintet and Blue Note" section removed? It leaves something of a large hole in Hancock's career. --Wayne Miller 20:55, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I guess no one else knows, either. I re-added it. --Wayne Miller 21:48, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eddie Henderson[edit]

The link to Eddie Henderson on this page points to an article about Eddie Henderson a retired US Soccer player. Has the original article about Eddie Henderson the trumper player been over written ? Mick Ekers 22:44, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to "I Sing the Body Electric"[edit]

In the reporting about the first use of sythesizers, it is refered to "I Sing the Body Electric", one might add that that's a Weather Report album

Obama concert[edit]

Why is this not noted in the article? Hancock played the keyboard. --anonymous —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.198.38.61 (talk) 23:34, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ghostbusters?[edit]

Didn't he do the Ghostbusters theme?Geo8rge (talk) 15:35, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, that was Ray Parker, Jr.

Peter, Paul, and Mary ?[edit]

There is a "Herbert Hancock" credited as a backing musician on PP&M's 1969 album "Late Again." Is that Herbie? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.179.92.117 (talk) 18:08, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yesit is, I searched it up. Citizen609059034 (talk) 14:00, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Need photos from Hancock's early career[edit]

We have plenty from more recent times, but we need more from his earlier days prior to 1990. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 13:28, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Long paragraph on Patrick Gleeson[edit]

Does the Hancock biographical article really need the paragraph "Synthesizer player Patrick Gleeson, one of the first musicians to play synthesizer on any jazz recording, introduced the instrument on Crossings... Hancock started to play synth himself and unlike Gleeson, he plays it as a melodical and rhythm instrument just like electric pianos."? More relevant to the Gleeson biography than here?AllyD (talk) 22:27, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I feel this is relevant as what is being said here is that Herbie, got into Synthesizer's thanks to, Patrick Gleeson, & that Gleeson was probably the first artist to record with the instrument. Yet Herbie took the instrument & played it his way. This tells us that Herbie has got the ability to take a new concept & make it his own. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.42.163.31 (talk) 22:31, 12 July 2011 (UTC) DavidMajikFingers (talk) 22:46, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

References don't belong in External links-- they belong here[edit]

References don't belong in External links. These sources belong on the talk page. I have moved the link farm there to this talk page where they do belong. Warning: I didn't check them over, so be careful in choosing any references here. Thank you. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 06:50, 21 March 2012 (UTC) [reply]

External links provide general information about the subject matter. Editors are more than welcome to turn these links into references, but in no way, shape or form are we encouraged to remove useful links just because they are not attributed to a specific quote. I'm reinstating the links and will try to turn them into footnotes at a later point. Hearfourmewesique (talk) 11:45, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Grinnell College[edit]

Talks about Herbie "leaving" Grinnell before saying anything about him going there. WithGLEE (talk) 13:59, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Too many keytar photos[edit]

First of all, as someone else noted four years ago, all the photos of Herbie are recent. There should be one of him from the 60s, one from the 70s, etc., according to the section. More importantly, there are three pics of him playing keytar, and not a single one of him playing piano! Trust me, the amount of time Herbie spends playing keytar at any given concert is relatively small - pretty much only when he plays Rockit or Chameleon. Seriously, there is no need for three friggin' keytar pics from the mid 2000's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.21.3.45 (talk) 11:03, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Classical?[edit]

How is Hancock a classical composer and pianist? He is currently in 11 such categories. Are any of his compositions categorized as classical? Did he play classical piano music after his teens? More importantly, are "Classical composer" and "Classical pianist" defining categories for Hancock? ISTM he's not, and I suggest to remove those categories. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 06:00, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Need to add Treasure Chest to discography!!![edit]

There is no reference to the album “Treasure Chest”. Great album! 1974, Between head hunters and thrust. It does not appear in the bio, discography, and does not appear to be a standalone page. 2603:6000:8000:1971:54C:A8A4:E47D:D7E8 (talk) 18:06, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
