On the day of the attack, al-Qaeda leaders in Pakistan were informed of the bombing, and they were joyful.

I changed the nationality of Niser bin Muhammad Nasar Nawar from Canadian to Tunisian because the source states that he had been living in Montreal for only about three years and there was no mention of him gaining Canadian citizenship. -CWPappas (talk) 05:00, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal[edit]

Support the May proposal to merge Niser bin Muhammad Nasr Nawar to here, on the grounds of WP:1E, overlap and context. Klbrain (talk) 17:35, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose the merger because where the person is the PERPETRATOR of a notable crime a sub-article can be written about them. WP:1E is meant to apply when no prior article exists about the (usually living) person and the additional information can be readily incorporated into the article about the event. This also avoids creating an article about a living person. If one considers the relative sizes of the articles, the existing article about the perpetrator is already larger than the article about the bombing. This suggests that undue weight could be given to details about the (now deceased) perpetrator. Additionally, sources from 2015 and 2017 suggest there is sustained coverage and ongoing research about the perpetrator under the name "Nizar bin Muhammad Nasr Nawar", or perhaps "Nizar ben Muhammad Nasr Nawar". Subsequent coverage concerning a person most notable for a particular event may mean that WP:1E no longer applies because the person becomes notable for more than one event as a result of the post-event coverage. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 08:21, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
All good points; withdrawing support and closing proposal with no merge (given that there is now no support). Klbrain (talk) 18:03, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
