Headline text[edit]

This bio of Sumner Redstone is badly out of date; e.g., Blockbuster no longer exists, Brad Grey is dead, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stevenkrauss (talkcontribs) 17:51, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

i think i saw a ct scan on this guy once...really. can't talk about it though...

Possible POV.[edit]

The paragrpah below in the article seems a bit opinionated. However, in this context. What do they mean by 'hostile takeover'?. A quick snatching of coporate power through possibly dishonest means?, threats of physical violence?. Could someone please clairfy this and fix the article accordingly...

After a hostile takeover in 1987, Redstone won voting control of Viacom and led a series of acquisitions to make Viacom one of the top players in modern media (along with General Electric & Vivendi's NBC-Universal, News Corporation, Time Warner, Sony, and The Walt Disney Company).

Picture?[edit]

Isn't there a public domain picture of this guy? Or, barring that, Jigsaw's puppet from the Saw movies?

Do you really want to see a picture of nosferatu? The devil will recognize his own. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.176.33.102 (talk) 06:56, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I Agree, I think Devil doew not like to be pictured on wikipedia ;-) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.108.215.226 (talk) 16:02, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted to know if there was a picture of this guy as well, I mean we have people who are just plumbers with pictures on here, but this guy who runs one of the largest and most powerful media empires there is not even a snapshot of? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.50.109.207 (talk) 17:30, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jew?[edit]

In the article, it is not mentioned that he is a Jew, but he is placed in Category:American Jews. So the claim needs clarification. --Kaaveh (talk) 07:29, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I'm wondering if he changed his name to hide the fact that he's a Jew. 12:06, 23 January 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.245.45.212 (talk)
The article now mentions these items, with references. —Patrug (talk) 03:33, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Editing Paramount Pictures Section[edit]

I work for Rubenstein Communications and I propose the following edits on behalf of Paramount. To mitigate conflict of interest issues, I ask that an editor review the edits and take them live, as they see fit. If no objections are had and no edits are made within ten days, I will go ahead and update the entry myself. I believe these edits enhance the accuracy of the entry while adding additional citations.

Assessment comment[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Sumner Redstone/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Why does the article include the following sentence:

"He is one of the jews known to run the world through a vast media empire."

Is that a joke?

It should be reviewed and edited

Last edited at 13:45, 19 December 2006 (UTC). Substituted at 07:18, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

The sentence was deleted a few minutes later, at 13:55, 19 December 2006. —Patrug (talk) 03:33, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Manuela Herzer lawsuit[edit]

Is there any reason why the Manuela Herzer lawsuit over Redstone's competency to remove her from his health care proxy is reduced to a footnote that doesn't describe it? It meets WP:WEIGHT by the standard of massive media coverage. I also think it's important and significant as an example of the law of competency and undue influence. --Nbauman (talk) 13:59, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article includes a sentence & citation for this, at the end of the Succession section. Redstone has been involved in many legal disputes during his long & complicated life and career, and this particular trial ended almost as soon as it began, so its significance seems more gossipy than encyclopedic. —Patrug (talk) 03:33, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Year of marriage[edit]

In the infobox it says Mr Redstone's first marriage startet in 1944 while in the private life section it says 1947. Which is right? --Maxl (talk) 17:48, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch. I changed the infobox to match the article text and its newspaper reference. —Patrug (talk) 03:33, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Legal Battle[edit]

The article currently is completely scrubbed of even a hint of any of this: http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/03/sumner-redstone-legal-battle-final-days

OSS and CIA intentionally omitted?[edit]

Isn't it true that Redstone worked for CIA predecessor, the OSS, during WW2? And possibly had CIA ties after that? Certainly the conspiracy theorists would want to know that! It is, indeed, somewhat remarkable that this is not mentioned in the article. I hope some one who knows how to source this properly will make the relevant edit! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.35.240.182 (talk) 07:36, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Lock request[edit]

This page has been subjected to persistent and targeted vandalism as of late - each edit has violated strict Wiki policies on biographies of living persons by making accusations that could be considered libellous. Is it possible for us to have it locked to edits from non-users for a while? Thanks --Jkaharper (talk) 20:44, 20 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. People think it is cool to vandalize this page. We will not let it happen under any circumstances. Lowryder71 (talk) 04:23, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
