Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Heads Up! It's Portland

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a promotional video sold to advertise the benefits of Portland, Oregon. From what I can see, the text of this article is copied from the back of the packaging box. However, no matter how hard I try, I can't think of how to rewrite the present text to justify an article about this video.

And I honestly doubt "few people" know about the origin of Portland's name -- I wouldn't be surprised that it's one of 2 bits of trivia anyone who has heard of Portland knows. (The other beng the fact that the guy in the "Expose yourself to Art" poster is former mayor Bud Clark.) -- llywrch 21:01, 26 Jul 2004 (UTC)

  • the article doesn't make it clear which Portland it's talking about (apart from not being the one in Maine). My atlas lists about a dozen Portlands, not being a USian I have no idea on this one. If in doubt delete though. --Ianb 20:52, 30 Jul 2004 (UTC)
If you care, EMA Productions seems to be located in Oregon and specializes in videos about Oregon, and the Lovejoy/Pettygrove story refers to Portland, Oregon. Dpbsmith 01:44, 31 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Promotional. Does not convey any significant information. The story about Lovejoy and Pettygrove is already in the Portland, Oregon article. The only other information it conveys is the existence of this non-notable video. Dpbsmith 01:44, 31 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: Bad advice, too. If you stick your head up, someone will punch you. (Advertising, commentary on a non-notable video.) Geogre 02:29, 31 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, though salvage the bit about where its name came from and add it onto the Portland, Oregon page if it isn't there already (perhaps I should have checked?). Its an interesting fact, if hardly a big secret. -R. fiend 05:23, 31 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Nevermind; its there. Delete. -R. fiend 05:26, 31 Jul 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. Ugh. Imagine the horror if we had articles for every promotional or instructional video on here. Postdlf 05:58, 31 Jul 2004 (UTC)
