Bennett Taylor Dansby was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was DELETE

This was deleted once, I'm pretty sure. At any rate, this is a page about Bennet Taylor Dansby by User:Btdansby. Not notable -- "never shown in a gallery", according to the page. At best it needs to be made his user page. --jpgordon {gab} 23:16, 9 Oct 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete or move to his user page with an expanatory note on his talk page (I may see if I can get around to it when I have more time if there are no objections). It has been deleted before, but as a sub-stub (entire contents then: "Artist Living in Berkeley, CA."), not thru VfD. Six displayed hits for "Bennett Taylor Dansby", the first two being his Website, the next was a (presumably paid) marriage announcement, that has scrolled off into history. Both the cited awards appear to be one of several (actually many, at least for UNC) annual awards given to undergrads at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. Sigh...His Alexander Julian Prize looks like a copyvio of a link from hit number 4, other than the list of recipients. Argh...hit 5 is a pdf of the same, but with the same list. Hit 6 gets a 404-type error message (apparently from before he registered his own domain name). Niteowlneils 00:55, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: One of the awards is an annual prize at UNC (the Alexander Julian award). The other one comes from the collective UNC/Duke community. They indicate that he was a promising fine arts candidate, although studio art at UNC is weaker than anyone wants it to be (which is not meant to denigrate this fellow; it's just that when I was there, which was just before he graduated, studio art was one of the departments people always talked about as letting down the side). Move to his user page, drop a note on him, but delete in any case. If he has chosen not to be a public artist, then he has chosen to not be encyclopedic. If it isn't by choice that he has no shows, then he is non-notable within his field. Geogre 03:59, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • OK, I moved "Bennett Taylor Dansby" to User:Btdansby, deleted the resulting redir and the resulting red-links at Alexander Julian Prize (which I also re-wrote a bit to make it less copyvio) and Dansby, left a note at User talk:Btdansby with plenty of links to elaborate on the issues cited. (and apparently forgot to Save the first time I tried to leave this info here) Niteowlneils 23:28, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
