Proposed move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was moved to SoBe. A separate article about the now-defunct company can be made. —harej (talk) 10:13, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

South Beach Beverage CompanySoBe — Per WP:Common name this article should not have been moved to this name. SoBe is the accepted common name of this product line. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 03:51, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. Are we confusing the brand with the name of the company? If this the about the company then maybe it is at the correct name. SoBe should redirect to the section of the article about the brand. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:23, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • The company doesn't exist anymore as an independent firm, it is now a division of PepsiCo. The article is about the brand of beverage. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 19:31, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • In that case, I think splitting the company article and the brand might make the most sense. The company would stay at the current name and the brand would move to SoBe. That would not need a discussion. Vegaswikian (talk) 02:47, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cochineal Bugs[edit]

There's some controversy because the drinks aren't technically vegetarian. The contain cochineal bugs for the red or orange color. -kslays (talkcontribs) 18:47, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bottlecap Messages[edit]

I don't get it, why doesn't this article even mention the fact that SoBe drinks have had messages on the bottoms of their caps for who-knows-how-long? I'd heard they stopped doing that, so I went on Wikipedia to see if they had any info on it, but it turns out, they don't mention it at all! What gives? If anyone could find out about it and maybe edit the article, that would be nice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.139.145.243 (talk) 06:51, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Where is it sold?[edit]

I saw a taster stall in England yesterday. I think a section should be added Sweetie candykim (talk) 17:21, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge[edit]

SoBe Mr. GreenSoBe

I am proposing to merge the article SoBe Mr. Green into this one. It is a minor flavor that ahs since been discontinued and could easily be included here. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 23:13, 9 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disagree. I think this beverage is notable in its own right. To merge all of the information from SoBe Mr. Green into the SoBe article would result in Mr. Green, a historical item, suddenly dominating a company article which is mostly full of trivial tidbits, and sparing in detail or sources about its present and long-term (and very similar) products to begin with. Mr. Green sits handily aside from any other SoBe product, being the only carbonated offering ever available. Mr. Green's article is heavily validated by sources which give further credence for it to stand on its own. In full disclosure, I am the creator of the Mr. Green article, but no other input has been placed here as neither of these articles is very heavily visited, so I mostly wanted to state my reasons for disagreeing with merging the article so such an action won't take place without at least a dissenting opinion being voiced. --CrunchySkies (talk) 21:51, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Early bottles[edit]

For a short time, SoBe drinks were originally marketed under the name "South Beach". As I worked at the Staten Island-based South Beach Psychiatric Center, I took note when an iced tea line named South Beach hit the stores many years back. This photo is of a few of those early bottles, which have a bas-relief lizard in the glass. They disappeared for a time and came back as SoBe. I always assumed they'd lost a copyright battle for the name, but I don't actually know that. There's no reference to the original "South Beach" name in the Wikipedia entry for SoBe. Yet here are some bottles, which I bought in stores and saved all these years. [1] TonyParkSlope (talk) 23:23, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
