I've lebelled the first comment as fantasy. The family of CJD sufferer Jonathan Simms talk to the press regularly. The Department of Health does not not sanction pentosan treatment because of the very real risks and doubtful benfit (pentosan has known side-effects and must be administered by injection into the brain) but the Medical Research Council is monitoring patients who are receiving the drug.

Looking at the article, the section about DNA is irrelevant to pentosan polysulfate. It is taken verbatim from the Pentose Sugar web site and I wonder if there is a copyright issue as well. It should be deleted.

Fantasy[edit]

There is huge controversy in England, because this cheap drug is excluded from official govt. research due to pressure from pharmaceutical zaibatsus. Patients and families who use Pentosan it have been gagged under police duress in order not to reveal the magic effect of this tuppence drug. Down with secret government and God bless BBC, they are the ones who say the truth as usual: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4306351.stm
