You seem to be mistaking that those numbers refer only to Poland when in fact they refer to all Eastern countries. A quick search gives 3 million expelled from Czechoslovakia with between 20,000 - 200,000 killed and 200,000 German killed after the war in Yugoslavia. It seems likely it will quickly add up to the quoted figures when we add Poland, Russia, the Baltic countries, Hungary,

How come? Most of Germans escaped before Red Army came.

Other quick searches show that listing on the Volkslist even in categories 1 and 2 did not give automatic citzenship in Nazi or post-war Germany (although it was almost certain).

What do you mean? Signing Volkslist wasn't applying for foreign citizenship? It was treated like this by Polish law.

And that Poland did not only expel those on the list but indisciminately.

Serious doubts. If somebody was Polish citizen and had prove for it that he didn't apply for Volkslist, he was not subject of Polish law against traitors. However, he could have been persecuted by Soviets or by individual criminals.

The question of when they were expelled that is before or after the bullets stopped flying is more difficult. I would support changing German explusion after World War II to German expulsion at the end of World War II or similar since most of the figures I find include both the end of the war and the aftermath. see [1] Rmhermen 17:43, Oct 18, 2003 (UTC)

Identity Crisis[edit]

GH vel User:PMelvilleAustin[edit]

User:PMelvilleAustin has stolen my user page GH on pretext, that I didn't registered user GH yet. He did it right now, for sole purpose to destroy my page. Anyhow this is childlsh behaviour. AM

- I don't know why the allegation of identity theft has been made specifically against PMelvilleAustin, but in any case, I have made a changes and/or notes about the name change everywhere that had a link to User:GH. If this identity theft was done knowingly, then it was indeed a rather nasty violation of Wikiquette. -- Cyan 03:01, 22 Nov 2003 (UTC)

- PMA is a respected and honourable contributor to wikipedia who has never abused his position. I cannot imagine a more ludicrous suggestion than that he would steal another user's userpage. If this was April I'd think it was an April Fool's joke! FearÉIREANN
- I suspect this is a simple case of mistaken identity, common among new Wikipedia users. He is ascribing the defacement of his user page to the user he was having a disagreement with somewhere else, based just on that disagreement, not realising that he can actually CHECK who did it. Morven
- GH always edited anonymously, so perhaps he had a user page GH, but no account under that name. I guess, that is meant here. Anyhow, I know PMA as a polite and reliable contributor, and I do not understand, why GH made this accusation against him. -- Baldhur 11:25, 23 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- Is the IP which registered user GH related to the IP of other Wikipedia contributors? Any sign of them having a disagreement with the IP user who was using the GH user page? If yes, it's possible that this was a deliberate malicious act. If no, it seems unlikely. It's still unwise to use a user page without registering the user. Jamesday 16:21, 23 Nov 2003 (UTC)
