The term "affiliating university" appears to be an Indianism and does not exist in England, where the term "collegiate university" is used. Is an Indian affiliating university more like the University of London, where the colleges are effectively independent institutions sharing only examination, syllabus and degrees, or like the Oxbridge universities where the university is actively involved in undergraduate as well as postgraduate education?
