Traditional tattooing[edit]

Hi all, I'm considering splitting History of tattooing into a separate article on indigenous and traditional tattooing practices. Given the size of the article, it doesn't feel very readable and I think having a separate page would allow people to expand on the contemporary practices of these traditions. So I don't know what this even is, even after scanning the article a few times. It's very jargony, and abstract without getting to the point of what it really is, how it impacts the world, and where it came from.
