25/7 2010: I am grown up in Skanör, and it annoys me that this incorrect information now is spreading to become international. Politically, the economy goes to "Skanör med Falsterbo", but geographically there are not, and have never been, the same town. This mis-information has been spread since 1972, but has nothing to do with local signs, geography, culture or even reality. There simply isnt any town called "Skanör med Falsterbo"! Thats why Swedish wikipedia has separate pages for both towns, with an explanation about where the border is between those two different cities. Most people live in Skanör, but Falsterbo is larger. Flasterbo starts about 2 km through Skanör, and the signs all around Skåne has never said that there is any town called "Skanör med Falsterbo", and the distances are different as Falsterbo starts later. The signs used at the actual place are blue, indicating that they are separate towns. They also have separate schools (always had), churches, postal codes.... I strongly suggest this page is completely taken off, and that someone starts separate pages for Skanör and Falsterbo respectively, just like on Swedish wikipedia (who also has a page for this "misinformation", describing that it is in fact two different cities). Thank you.

If you have some problems with what you call a "Misinformation" I suggest you discuss it with Statistiska Centralbyrån instead. The former towns have grown together and you cannot do very much about that.--Muniswede (talk) 08:52, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As mentioned in the article, this town is nowadays merged with Falsterbo, and has the official name "Skanör-Falsterbo", I suggest that we follow the Swedish article sv:Skanör-Falsterbo and put both towns in the same article. I also see that no one to date has written anything about Skanör, but I might do that later, or just translate the Swedish article into English (I grew up not far from Skanör-Falsterbo). Any thoughts? /Grillo 00:38, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Yes, a merger might be suitable. The article on Falsterbo needs a lot of work, maybe it's just easier to add any info missing on the Skanör-Falsterbo page and then redirect Falsterbo to Skanör-Falsterbo. I don't know how to do that, and it seems the Falsterbo article has been edited recently. I suggest also that info on Falsterbo Horse Show be added (homepage: http://www.falsterbohorseshow.com) since it's such a big event and has been going on since the 20s!

I just came here from Google Earth as I reacted on the coordinates at which the wikipedia-symbol for Falsterbo was placed, a little too far to the east in my opinion, placed in the middle of Skanörs Ljung. 55'23N 12'50E seems more accurate. /HARS

Is this the same Falsterbo which was on the Hanseatic League trading route? If so shouldn't it be mentioned in the History section? --Kavrod 18:36, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Skanör med Falsterbo is one locality[edit]

As a matter of fact Skanör med Falsterbo (which means Skanör with Falsterbo) is officially considered one and the same locality or urban area when it comes to statistics. Administratively Falsterbo and Skanör were merged into one city already in 1754 and is now a tätort in Vellinge Municipality.--Muniswede (talk) 08:44, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
