Mel Brooks[edit]

Was Anne Bancroft still married to Mel Brooks when she died? They would have been married 41 years, which is a real feat in Hollywood.

Onscreen with Mel Brooks[edit]

This article stated that they appeared twice together on screen, they actually did so at least one more time: they appeared together onscreen as themselves in the episode entitled "Opening Night" of the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm". Here's a link to verify [1]. I've seen the episode and without giving anything away (in case you want to see it) they did appear onscreen together, they weren't just in the same episode.Quadzilla99 11:19, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More recent picture...[edit]

I don't understand why the main picture is of her as a 21 year old, when she wasn't well known.

Question about "citation needed" footnote at end of Section on Death[edit]

I noticed that a "citation needed" caption was placed at the end of the last sentence in the Section on Death. I don't understand why "A white marble monument with a weeping angel adorns her grave" needs a citation. If you look at Anne Bancroft's grave image, you will see that a white marble monument with a weeping angel adorns her grave. This is proof of the statement's validity. As far as I know, photographs don't lie or deceive.

I'm the person who took and uploaded the image of Anne Bancroft's grave, and I'm also the person who added the last sentence in the section on Death. I got that information from the grave marker itself.

You might be interested to know that I ran into Anne Bancroft's sister at her grave site a couple of years ago. She was a very interesting person to engage in conversation. Anthony22 (talk) 00:53, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Additional info from son Max[edit]

I came across some interesting reading on Anne from her son Max in the article ‘Pandemics Come in Predictable Cycles. If I’m the Smartest Guy in the Room, We’re in Big Trouble’.

I think some of the information may make a good addition to the article, like she was not supposed to be able to get pregnant; she refused to abort her son due to fears of Dow's Syndrome; and when her son was having trouble learning due to dyslexia she created audio books for him so he could read along with tapes. Bancroft seems to have been very intelligent/scientific, and one of her favorite books was a book on microbes.

Home For the Holidays film credit missing[edit]

How many times she appeared with her husband.[edit]

Citation needed?[edit]

A "Citation needed" template was removed from the end of the following text:

Bancroft was ambivalent about her appearance in The Graduate; she said in several interviews that the role overshadowed her other work. Despite her character becoming an archetype of the "older woman" role, Bancroft was only 36 years old at the time--just eight years older than her onscreen daughter Katharine Ross and six years older than Hoffman.

The edit summary that accompanied the removal said, " It's a mathematical fact (and a very simple one at that)." I may have missed something, but I don't see any documentation of Ross's and Hoffman's ages in this article. Certainly the calculation is simple, but shouldn't the ages themselves be documented?

More significant, however, is the mention of Bancroft's ambivalence about being in the film. If "she said in several interviews that the role overshadowed her other work", shouldn't at least one of those interviews be cited here? Eddie Blick (talk) 01:49, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
